Would you be annoyed
So we had to start talking about a baptism for baby # 3 who isn't even here yet because we have a lot of out of town family (12 plus hours away) including sil who will be the godmother and also because my parents are big travelers and have a 6 week long trip planned for after I getting back on my feet after I have the baby.
Anyway I hate planning things like this before the baby isn't here but with all the variables we had to discuss it. This was maybe 2 months ago.
My brother texts me today asking what time the church/party would be etc. I told him i knew the church is a 130 and we would do the party after. He then tells me ok well we are going to Italy with his inlaws and have to leave at 5 to get to airport.
Would you be mad?

I read your post a few times, and honestly can't find anything to really be mad about, sorry.
Italy is a major trip - it's not like they are driving somewhere and can leave a hour or two later.
You mentioned it was "discussed" 2 months ago - were firm plans made at that time??

yes firm plans were made and they go to Italy often if that matters.
I actually can't decide if I'm annoyed or not. Part of me doesn't care the other part of me says why can't they fly out the next day.

Yeah I don't plan on saying anything either way. Just trying to get outside opinions and figure out if it is me being sensitive and pregnant.
My brother tends to do things like this anyway.

It would definitely annoy me a little bit, but like another poster said, I wouldn't make a big deal out of it.

I'd find that slightly irritating b/c you went ahead and planned before you wanted to in order to accommodate them and now they can't even stay for the whole party? I mean, I wouldn't be mad or do anything about it, but it is just a tad irritating.

Baby is not here yet? That's a tough one... If he didn't book yet, he should change his plans by 1 day. If you haven't booked yet, you can change yours.
It is your brother... Talk to him and work it out.

I just booked a christening and my son isnt here yet either. Mine is also at 130 and party is right after. Although the hall gives us 4 hours for the party, I do think that its a wee bit long for a christening anyway. So leaving at 5 would not bother me at all. At least it shows he is thinking of the baptism this early when most people would even given that it was discussed.

That would annoy me for sure and I would not be able to not make a comment about arranging to fly out the next day. Is his wife the Godmother? If she is, that would extra annoy me.

We're not religious at all and only really had a baptism to appease our families.
It was I want to say around 6 months old.
Is doing something like that an option (not necessarily that long, but you KWIM) if you really want your family there and available?
Vacations are not always easily planned either.
I have to give him points for at least reaching out to you in advance.

Then I'd probably be annoyed but not enough to say something. What can you do? What is complaining going to do? I doubt they will change the flight and hotel reservations so just enjoy the day for what it is.

Thanks everyone..I'm over it..I need to realize my brother does things like this all the time. Changing it later would make it very hard for our out of town family (which includes the godparents) because it brings it into the fall when they are all back to work/school.

Haha I did this..actually my mom called me to vent about it bc she sil Facebook post saying how excited she was going to Italy (mentioning when it would be). My mom is mad enough for me haha

I know this is not what you want to hear, but sometimes I think we really do need to chalk it up to the fact that other people---family or not---are not always going to be as excited as we are for events for our children ;).

I would be a tad irritated but it wouldn't ruin my day or anything. Church is 1:30 so what time does the party afterwards start? Just curious how much he'll be missing.
