Would you be annoyed?
DH recently took up golf. Now it seems everytime he has a day off he's playing golf with the boys. Also he takes days off to play. I've mentioned that I want to spend those days with him and he said he would not play but then I feel bad that I'm taking him away from something he enjoys. Am I being crazy?

Re: Would you be annoyed?
Don't feel guilty. DH should split his time between golf and being with you. You're not "taking him away from something he enjoys", he should enjoy being with you too!!

He'll probably burn out soon from it....plus the weather will get colder...so it probably won't last too long!

Re: Would you be annoyed?
I wouldn't be annoyed.
It's a new interest so he's enthusiastic. It's also weather dependent and with winter around the corner I wouldn't let it get to me now. If the pattern continued next year, I would ask for some compromises like very earliy tee times or specific golf free days, etc.

He won't be able to go after work either because it will be getting dark so early. For a few months you will have your man back and can work things out for next spring or summer.

I think it's something new that he's excited about.......if it's after a month or so and the novelty didn't wear off, I'd be annoyed if he took days off from work to play.........

it's been since April. He just took off this past Friday to play with friends and plans on playing Columbus day. I can understand some of it as I was certified in SCUBA diving last fall. But if I dive I'm home by 10-11am and I don't go if he's home for the day.
I just wanted to know if I sound silly for being a but annoyed at him.

You don't sound silly at all. My husband is a car racing enthusiast. When he started, he told me it was only for a short time. P.S. - here it is 14 years later and it is still going strong. I HATE CAR RACING!!!!!!! Speaking as someone who has some experience in this, he can get very involved and before you know it, years have passed. You're not going to be able to stop him if he puts his mind to it, but, hopefully, you can come to some sort of compromise with him on how much time he spends with his new interest.

I would be annoyed too. Its great for him to have a hobby but he needs to learn how to divide his time.

aww, I can only imagine if we lived there. I'll probably start playing myself inthe next year or so. But I can only afford one expensive hobby at a time and I took to diving.

Re: Would you be annoyed?
I would use that time to go to the Spa myself MY DH does all his golfing through work plus he has a yearly golf trip next week with his boys and it doesn't bother me.

Re: Would you be annoyed?
I used to run golf tournaments. Most people that get into it rarely get out of it. It starts out as going out a few weekends & then it's guys' trips to Hilton Head.
Rather than complain about it, I would say find a hobby. I know that sounds really lame but find something you love to do & do it without him. It will make you happier in the long run.

Re: Would you be annoyed?
This happened to me and we would fight all the time about it.
We made a deal, if he wants to go golfing, all of the daily chores around the house need to be done and he needs to be done before I get home from work. Plus, no golfing on the weekend.
He's been very good about it. He gets to go out with the boys and I get help around the house. It works for both of us.

Re: Would you be annoyed?
Believe me, it get's better. My DH was just like that. He would play golf early in the morning so we could spend time together once in a while. Maybe you could suggest that.
