would u go out of town....
At 36 weeks if u are high risk? It would be for easter passover one night about 3 to 4 hour drive to conneticut. I will be asking ob his opinion of course. Dh worries that even if doc says ok that if something were to happen that the drive is too far from home and hospital. Thoughts?

no.....cause by the time we got there....and eat and bs ....it would be such a long day for dh to drive back. i mean we CAN but i think dh would rather not even bother for such a short amount of time.
hmmmm soooo far the consensus is no....whew...i thought i was being a weenie for not wanting to!! lol

Re: would u go out of town....
I would say no. You will prob be fine but I just wouldn't risk it. I have friends who were not high risk and still wouldn't travel more than an hour!

Re: would u go out of town....
I would go at 36 weeks, but only if I wasn't high risk. Since you are High Risk, I think you should stay home Just in case.

Re: would u go out of town....
I wouldn't. I was high risk and ended up delivering at 37 weeks.
You could deliver at any time at that point. If you are ok being in a strange hospital with a stranger as a Dr then you can but you always have to think its a possibility that the kid is on their way.
I was in Lowes the day before my water broke and I wasnt feeling well and said to DH...lets go I don;t want to deliver in Lowes....little did I know I was so close to having a baby.
You just never know. Better to be safe!!!!

Re: would u go out of town....
I had planned to go to my parents' house on LI for several days over Thanksgiving. I was 36 weeks. A day or two before we were supposed to leave, I ended up being put on bedrest. Since you're high risk, I'd be concerned about being several hours away at 36 weeks. I live in CT and know there are quite a few excellent hospitals , but I'm not sure I'd want to take the chance of delivering somewhere that I'm not familiar with.

Re: would u go out of town....
No- my Ob said no at 34 weeks and I wasn't high risk.
A friend of mine went into labor in DC at 30 weeks- about 6 hours from home and delivered her twins prematurely while visiting her inlaws. For the past 2 months she has been living with her inlaws in DC while the twins were in the NICU. She said the whole experience has been extremely traumatic and very difficult not being home and her husband had to take a leave of absence to be close to her and the babies. The doctors feel that its too much to transfer the babies to a hospital closer to her house.
This is the worst case scenario but I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Re: would u go out of town....
I am not high risk, but my first was a very pre-term baby. I delivered unexpectedly just before 32 weeks (I wasn't high risk then either).
I would personally not travel that far at 36 weeks, especially if I were high risk.

Re: would u go out of town....
Like the other posters, I wouldn't go either in your situation. 3-4 hours is too far for me at 36w & I'm not high risk. You just never know if you're going to go early

no not me either. 4 hours is too long away from where you know you are in the care of your doctors
