Would a Dr. do an U/S earlier than normal if you had a MC?

Does that change things or will they still do the ultrasound at 8+ weeks?

i think it depends on the dr...my SIL had a miscarriage when she was younger, so when she was PG w/her 1st daughter and 2nd, they did sono's at 6 weeks like right after she found out...don't know if that's why or not

a friend of mine, 1st PG, also got a sono at 6w, but she's perfectly healthy and no history of MC,

I on the other hand, got one at 9w with my dr., so I have a feeling it depends...

I'm sure that with a previous MC, there'd be a better reason to do one earlier but I dont know if it's necessarily a given...

I had a m/c yrs ago, that and the fact that I'm overweight I think puts me at high risk. Ive been lucky to get a sono at almost every 2 weeks. (between OB and perinatologist visits)

Thanks. I have my first appt. this Tuesday but its only to meet with the nurse and I guess take blood. The receptionist did tell me the Dr. does the u/s at 8 weeks but I didnt tell them I had a previous miscarriage. I guess I'll find out on Tuesday. Im so excited and so scared!

Im sure it depends on the dr...I had two miscarriages, so they got me in the day after my BFP to do blood testing to see if my numbers were going up. They also did ultrasounds right away until we saw the heartbeat,

I think it's the norm if you have more than one miscarrriage, to have earlier u/s...if you had one, I'd ask your dr to see if they will do it for peace of mind!!

I agree that it depends on the doctor, my Dr actually did an u/s at 5 weeks after I had a chemical then a m/c so he knew I was very anxious..

i had a mc at 8 weeks after we had already seen the heartbeat at around 6.5 weeks. second time around they still did an ultrasound at about 6.5 weeks to look for a heartbeat. the care didnt change much except the second time they sent me for bloodwork right away to make sure my numbers were going up, the first time they didnt.

When I had my first m/c and then got pregnant with , they brought me in at 7 weeks for an u/s so not much earlier. When I started to TTC for #2 and got pregnant and called, they didn't even bring me in for blood work and just scheduled the 8 week appointment. That ended in another u/s. I'm now with an RE, so for this pregnancy I'm getting an u/s at 6 weeks.

I had an early sono at 4 wks 8days, don't know why because I was told it was way to early from both the sono tech and one of the ob doctors. My re was the one who wanted it considering my bloodwork I had to do showed it looked like I didn't ovulate.


With dd I had one around 7wks and my last one was at 8 1/2 wks which ended in a m/c.

Not at my doctor. They checked my hcg twice and my progesterone after the bfp and because everything looked great I waited. I did have the option to go in at 6 weeks or 8 weeks (but not both) so I choose 8 weeks because I saw a heartbeat at 6 weeks with the previous baby and lost it afterwards, so I figured the later the sono the better. It was VERY hard to wait though.

I had a m/c in April. When I got pregnant again and went to the Dr at 6w3d for my confirmation my Dr squeezed me in for a sonogram because he knew I was nervous. I actually have had one each week just to monitor the pregnancy!
