Worm cupcakes. Yes, worm.
For Joseph's birthday, he wants me to bring in creepy cupcakes. I've recognized my cupcake baking limitations, so I'm opting for King Kullen's again.
He wanted some kind of hand coming out of a grave-like cupcake, but buying GI joes & snapping off their hands seems really wasteful.
I would like to get some type of cupcake, poke a hole in the middle & stuff a gummy worm in it.
I need ideas on what to tell the bakery to do. How do I get it to look like the ground?
Maddie was so much easier with her hot pink cupcakes & a purple scripty M on them.

Re: Worm cupcakes. Yes, worm.
I would just make them. I have. Just use crumbled up oreos and put a gummy worm poking out of them

Maybe cholcolate crunchies on top (like Carvel ones ???)...For my BIL 40th b-day, he's a land developer and I made him a chocolate cake w/ a plastic bulldozer on top scooping up the ground w/ a tomb stone next to it- I just used crumbled chocolate cake and I swear it looked just like dirt !

They can use chocolate frosting, sprinkle with ground up oreos or even chipsahoy for a more "sandy" look, and stick gummy worms in them.

I agree on the Oreos for dirt and I would just check oriental trading or somewhere similar for their creepy candy and use that so it's all edible. I'm positive they have candy fingers and such

Re: Worm cupcakes. Yes, worm.
I remember an old episode of Martha Stewart where she poked a milano cookie into each cupcake to make it look like a head stone. I think she piped "RIP" on each one before she poked them in the cupcakes. You could mix it up and have some worms and some headstones.

Here's bunch of cool ideas from Wilton:
Cupcakes
The Frankenstein one is cool:
They can make grass easily instead of dirt--they make and icing tip for that. Other dirt options might be chocolate sprinkles or crushed chocolate graham crackers.

OK -- this has turned into a REALLY COOL thread! I am bookmarking it!
Em has an Oct. birthday so in years to come we might do Halloween Themed..
LOVE the idea of using Milano cookies as the tombstone. Keep in mind that nutterbutters might not work as well bc of allergies.

Re: Worm cupcakes. Yes, worm.
OMG-I make DIRT CUPS with worms every year for my kids!!! It is the EASIEST thing to make and all the kids LOVE THEM!!! NO BAKING for these!! I make chocolate pudding and put it in the clear hard plastic drink cups- fill them half way up- then I put some DIRT(crushed oreos) and thenthe See-thru gummy worms-then more pudding and DIRT on top- then I put the bright sour worms sticking out of the top and hanging over the side of the glass!!! It takes less then a half an hour and they look AWESOME!!!!

Barb,
We can do this! I love ya, you know that but if you are going to do this you need to stick to the worms... everything else is "advanced baking"

Damien's school only allows store bought food in the original container, so they can read all the ingredients. Boo no fun at all

I agree, or make another choc cake and crumble it up. Use choc frosting to help it "stick" to the top before putting the dirt on.
Milano cookies from Pep Farms make great toumbstones!
