Squirmy worm during diaper changes!

who else has one? I was bringing DD to daycare and got a whiff of a good poop, so I changed her before I left.. Of course she is trying to squirm and go everywhere! Its bad enough in the privacy of my own home, but felt silly with her trying to get away with an audience!!! She will turn over, try to crawl on the changing table, stand up.
I've tried toys, singing, etc. nothing works. Actually, the diaper ointment tube mesmerizes her for a little bit, but that's a ticking time bomb until she learns to open the top (she likes to chew on the cap)..
any suggestions are welcome! Sorry, just had an 'ugh' morning getting her ready!!

DS is 1 and he does the same thing. I jut gave up and just try my best to change him really fast.

I used to change them on the floor & use my forearms to restrain them.

I wouldn't worry about your audience. I'm sure they have to do the same thing.

i use the box of baby wipes which distracts her for a few seconds until i have to reach in and use one

thanks! yea she loves the wipes box too. and the basket I keep some diapers out on.. I would say to her 'Jillian remember when you were 5 mos old and just finding your toes? You were actually HELPING me then (holding up her legs and I just slid the diaper right under her). Lets try to go re-enact that!'. Never works lol.

Molly does this. I either let her stand up and hold onto the crib or something while I change her or give her something new and exciting to hold like my camera, a remote control, etc. Something she usually can't touch so it is a huge deal and gets me the minute I need to get the diaper on.

I have a toy that he plays with long enough for me to get the stinky off his butt. After that, it's OK if he stands up, which he does. I just put the diaper on him while he is crawling or standing HE thinks he's a trickster, but I can keep up with him

One day, I woke up and he had his diaper on backwards. DH said he started crawling off the changing table so he grabbed him and put the diaper on and he couldn't do it the other way

Cailen is beginning to do the squirm thing now at 5 mts.... I didnt put his diaper on tight enough last night and he had an exlposive poop this morning!!!

Changing DS has become a NIGHTMARE he refuses to sit still!

i sing to him and he gets distracted and stares at me! probably thinking, woman you have a horrible voice, please shut up.

i have the same problem with both of them. i have used countless toys, the lotion tube, desitin, etc.. 1 thing that works for the past few days is the rubber ducky.
