Wood for the fireplace & Chimney sweeper
Dose anyone know of a place where I could get a half of cord of wood for my firepace? I live in Holbrook and looking for someone that isn't too expensive. Also does anyone know of a good affordabel chimney sweeper?

Stop and shop sells them for $2.50. I am not sure if it is a 1/2 cord or not. I think it is 6 or so pieces? That is the only place I know.
AS for chimney cleaners, I can't remember who looked at ours last year but I am AGAINST Advanced Chimney!! They don't take no for an answer (last year) and this year they are still calling us once or twice a day!!

Thanks, I know who not to use. I need a lot more wood than the a few pieces though. Looking to using the firemplace all winter long.

Re: Wood for the fireplace & Chimney sweeper
If you're going the Free on Craigs List route check to see what size it is, if it's split, etc. I suspect that a lot of that is just large tree sections that need to be cut and split, so if you're not prepared to do that you'll want pre-split, seasoned wood. The Craigs List freebies may be fresh cuts that won't burn well too.
We get our firewood from a guy named John (631) 698-2501 Cell (631) 807-9740 He's delivered to us for several years now.
For fireplace cleaning we use Chief Chimney - John Pilger - (631) 863-2460 http://www.chiefchimney.com/ They did a great job for us - very thorough. It's not the $39 special where they try to upsell you on everything - it will cost around $200 give or take but that's the real rate for a serious chimney cleaner that's not trying to do a half-blown job then upsell.

We called tree drs and tree removal companies... they give it to you for free. They deliver it to your driveway and dump it. You do however have to chop it.
