Wonder if this is what is causing DS's tummy issues...
I have been trying to figure out why DS has been extra fussy and gassy lately, so I googled information about some of the new foods that he has been eating and I came upon this article...
Gerber Products Company/Nestlé Infant Nutrition would like you to know that Gerber® Graduates® for Toddlers Sweet Potato Puffs - Puffed Grains with Real Vegetables’ product labeling has changed to include soy lecithin in the list of ingredients. Product packaging with this change will be arriving into the market in late June to early July 2010
I know that some people say that soy lecithin is ok for babies with a soy allergy, but I'm not sure it is ok for my son. His doctors both said that they haven't seen a baby with such a bad allergy to milk protein and soy in many years...I stopped giving the puffs to him and I will see what happens. It could explain his 4-5 bowel movements a day and his bad sleep pattern.

OMG, they added it and didn't put it on the label?

Apparently...I started to give them to Aidan a few weeks ago. Then he started to have more belly issues and trouble sleeping through the night. I am going through gas drops like no tomorrow. And he has been pooping a lot more! He hasn't had any in 24 hours. He only pooped twice today....I am going to send them an e-mail,,,

My nephew's soy allergy was so severe soy lecithin was a big no-no. He grew out of it (and the milk protein allergy) around 18 months or so - but until then my sister had a really hard time finding things to feed him without milk or soy.

I am thinking that it is a big no-no for DS too. He has never had anything with soy in it since he was diagnosed with the allergy. I now know better. And poor DS had to deal with the consequences of Gerber not putting it on their label. DS had a severe problem with their regular baby food when he was younger. I never gave it to him anymore...Someone recently told me that the Sweet Potato puffs from Gerber didn't have soy in it, so I tried them. I read the label and their is no mention of any type of soy in it....
