Will my Dr know after CD 3 if clomid or another med is needed?
I'm on day 5 /10 of provera, waiting for AF.... I'm wondering if after my CD 3 blood work comes if he'll know if something like clomid is needed and will prescribe right then and there....
Totally will stink if I gotta wait til after CD 22 (last blood test) and then have to wait for AF and do this provera thing all over again.... Seems so far away!

are you seeing a RE or just an OBGYN? if you are seeing a RE, then when you go in for your CD 3 bloodwork, when they call you, they will tell you that you can start taking the Clomid. But that's only if you've had a consult/spoken to the RE about what the next step/medications will be. He won't just prescribe you something over the phone, sight unseen. atthe initial appointment, you talk about what might work and take it from there. if they think Clomid is a good option (and most people start with this since it does help many women, though not all) they will probably give you a script and after your CD3 bloodwork is in will tell you to start taking the Clomid. If you spoke about different drugs, then they will tell you what to do as well.
An OBGYN, is not the right Dr. to see if you are having issues getting pregnant. It is an OBGYN's job to keep you pregnant and healthy. I'm sure you can ask your OBGYN to draw blood on CD 3 and they can certainly prescribe Clomid to you, but they will not monitor you the way you should be with and infertility medicine and you really won't know what's going on, if the Clomid is working, if your follicles are growing the way they should and if you are ovulating at all. Sure, they can have you come in on CD21 to see if you ovulated but that's all it will tell them. Obviously, if you go in for monitoring with a RE, they can see what is going on with your follicles every step of the way and see what is going on, if its working or if its not.

Will my Dr know after CD 3 if clomid or another us needed?
typically my past cycles have been like this...
Provera for 10 days AF usually 5-7 days later CD 3 monitoring- blood test, sonogram and my RE would write me up the clomid prescription Clomid for 5 days CD 10 monitoring- blood test, sonogram CD 14 monitoring- blood test, sonogram (usually at this point if you have at least 1 mature follicle, they will either give you the trigger shot, or if you are ovulating on your own they would have you go in for the IUI or TI) CD 16- IUI 7dpiui- progesterone and estrogen check 14dpiui- beta test.
Each cycle varied- there were some times where I went in for more monitoring, and some times where I was given a second dosage of clomid mid cycle (which pushed back the iui by a week).
But to answer your question, your doctor will definitely know at cd 3 whether or not you would need clomid/injectable fertility drugs etc.

most of the time if you are going in for cd3 and have taken provera you will just get clomid as a next step. a cd3 sono will confirm everything in your ovaries is nice and quiet and cd3 blood will only confirm that your levels are baseline and there are no weird estrogen spikes which can signify a cyst. generally, the decision has already been made and not much about cd3 bloodwork will change whether or not you get a clomid RX. if you are going in for CD3 to begin with chances are you've shown enough issues to get the RX. clomid is such a basic intro fertility drug - it doesnt take much to get an RX for it. if your doctor is on the fence its probably only if you havent been TTC all that long and maybe hes more of a wait and see type of dr.

Will my Dr know after CD 3 if clomid or another us needed?
I am not seeing an RE (yet) just my obgyn.
When we last met and discussed my concerns with not being able to get preggo this time around (had no problems with my other 2 DC). He said he "felt" that my hormone levels have dropped (which often happen to women around 35, although Im barely 30) and was ordering blood work at CD3, sono at CD14 and bloodwork again at CD 22. When I asked what normal "protocol" to fix the suspected issue, he mentioned clomid. Again- this was all based on what he FELT was going on and he only gave his opinion when a very emotional me, begged him to tell me what he THOUGHT was happening.
Then AF never came.... He said it made sense, considering he thought there was a hormone issue and prescribed provera.
Im just wondering now- if when CD 3 blood work comes in- if he'll just prescribe the clomid- or if Ill need to wait for ALL tests to come back...
Another round of not ovulating, followed by waiting til AF is a week late, then 10 days of provera.... just makes a month of TTC (where things are working correctly) soooo farrrr away... :(

You should not be on provera or clomid without further testing done. IMO I'd stop with your OB immediately and make an appt with an RE.

Re: Will my Dr know after CD 3 if clomid or another med is needed?
I just wanted to tell you that this same thing happen to me 2 months ago -(ive been seeing my ob/gyn as of yet) I missed 3 cycles and just kept lightlyspotting (which hasnever happened to me ever) He did bloodwork and a sono and I had an ovarian cyst that would not go away but was normal follicular cyst - so all it did was mess up my hormone levels (provera did not work untill the 2nd time) but then it was gone on the 3rd cycle and everything returned to normal....ask about a sono if you havent had one yet ...good luck

Im suppose to have a sono done on CD14; if AF ever shows up!
I guess when this provera is done; if AF still doesn't come that will be the next step...
