Will hosp. stock cart with formula if you are BF
I want to attempt to breast feed but im not sure how successful or comfortable i will be. Will they give me the option to do either or is it make a choice and thats it?

They will give you the option. They will or should help you as well with bf if your having trouble. They usually have a lactation consultant on hand if you need to see one. HTH.

My experience was that they would put a few nursettes of formula in the cart, like 2 or 3, but that was it. I guess the idea is that if you are BF, you don't really need it.
If I had to do it over, I would say that I am bottle feeding to get the extra to send home with DH, and then try to BF anyway. The ped told us to supplement in the beginning, so we did need some formula at home to start with and the nursette size was so convenient.

it is your baby and you can feed him any way YOU want. if there are no nursettes in the cart, ask for some. they can't tell you no and that you have to bf. it's your choice and yours alone.
i tried bf in the hospital, but there were nursettes in my cart. i took them home and am glad i did because i stopped bf when DS was 4 days old

Yes they will. I tried to BF in the hospital but DS wouldnt really latch on for long so I asked for formula everytime I fed him. I got to take home extra but not as much as the woman next to me who was not BFing.

I breastfed but also had to supplement formula. Right after my son was born, his sugar was on the lower side and they had to feed him immediately (and I was so out of it, I wasn't ready to BF) so they gave him formula. They made sure the cart was stocked, even after I started to BF. If for some reason, they don't put formula in your cart, just request it. They should also have a lactation consultant there to help you with breastfeeding.

I told them I was BFing and they still stocked my cart with formula bottles. I would put them in my bag to take home, just in case, and they'd replenish the missing stock.

I felt like the hospital was so stingy with the formula!! we had to Keep asking constantly, they would never stock it up in hte cart. I was not BF yet bc My milk took a while to come in, it was really annoying. I was at NS manhasset

Same here. The lacatation specialist was great - and she was the one who actually stocked me up with formula "just in case."

Good Sam had a couple formula bottle in the cart just in case I needed them. they told me to ask if I needed more. But we bf so I didn't. They did give me a can of powder Similac in my bag to take home.
