Wicked (Broadway show) for kids?
Would you take a 4 & 6 year old to see Wicked?
I'm debating getting tickets for Maddie & Joe to see Wicked with us.
They've seen the Wizard of Oz, they've seen Pirates of the Caribbean.

Wicked was a great show....I don't think there was anything bad in it for kids (that I remember). Would they sit through a show without getting antsy? I love broadway and can't wait to take DD

Re: Wicked (Broadway show) for kids?
I would not recommend the show for children of that age at all.
I read the book before I went to see the play, that was a big mistake. I loved the book and didn't like the play. In fact, my mom and I left during the intermission. I know some people who loved it, I thought it moved very slow and my mom fell asleep.

I would. Its kind of wizard of Oz with a twist... I dont see why not. Except of course if the big fat man with the cowboy hat sits in front of them...that could pose a problem

If they would sit through the show, then, yes, I would take them. I loved it. It's a totally different twist to the witches then you get from just the Wizard of Oz. There might be a couple of scenes that may upset them...flying monkeys.

I'm trying to remember the details, I saw it when it opened. I wasn't a fan of the show. I know people loved it but I thought the story was thin.
Might be a bit "dark" for them

You mean dark as like a "Mad Scientist" or as a "Wednesday Addams obsessed with death" kind of dark?

There's just some parts that might be a bit scarey for Maddie, Joseph would probably be ok. It never really struck me as a musical for kids, despite the tie-in to Oz
SIL'S, MIL and I went, no kids.

When DH and I saw it (we loved it BTW), there was a school trip there. I believe the kids were a bot older (maybe 9 or 10), but they were well behaved. If they can sit through it, why not?

Re: Wicked (Broadway show) for kids?
My sister and I saw Cats at 4 and 6. Our birthdays are one month apart, so every year in October, we'd go to a Broadway show for both of them. I love that we did that...so my answer is definately.

Thanks everyone for your responses. Now I just need to debate if I want to spend an extra couple of hundred on their tickets.

On their web-site it says:
Reccomended for children 8 & up No children under 4 admitted
I think there is some parts that might be a bit scary for them

Re: Wicked (Broadway show) for kids?
If they aren't easily scared I would bring them. There aren't really scary parts IMO. Of course I have a son that loves Jekyll and Hydes I took him to the city to try to win tickets from the lottery and we didn't get them. He always asks when we are going to try again!
