why test more than once?

Could some of you girls explain your reasoning behind testing more than once with the OPK's once you get a positive?

I use opks and temp... I like to keep using opks until my bbt shows that i have ovulated.

i have had cycles before where i would get a positive and then not ovulate , then later in the same cycle get another positive and then O...

i guess i like to keep doing it because i know i could get an LH surge and not actually O, so i am just trying to keep on top of everything to know whats going on. it makes me feel like i can pretend i have some control in the matter.

i don't know if other ladies continue to use opks after their first + for the same reasons that i do, or for other reasons; but thats how i roll.

I test twice so I don't miss the surge...you may get a negative in the morning but then a positive at night...its just so you dont miss your surge.

The OPK instructions say you should stop testing once you get your positive.

However, the OPK is testing for just the LH surge which will signal ovulation to occur - sometimes you have a surge and then do NOT ovulate for whatever reason (stress, travel, etc). So some women will continue to test to see if they get ANOTHER positive later on, meaning they really didn't ovulate before and now they should BD again because ovulation is due.

Once I got my positive, I tested again the next morning to see if it was still positive (it was). I took that to mean that I have not YET ovulated (because ovulation occurs 12-36 hours after your positive and theoretically when you're ovulating or have ovulated, the OPK will show up as a negative at that moment). I tested again 2 days later to make sure the OPK was negative (it was) and I took that to mean that I had probably ovulated the day before as I suspected.

I buy the seven-day pack of OPKs and test until it runs out. I figure what am I going to do with 2 leftover sticks; I'd need to buy another kit next month anyway. Also, I frequently get 3 day surges, and I guess testing until it's over is a better way of gauging "O" day as Lovey said.

The CBEFM tells you when to test. I test until it tells me to stop. Usually 2 days after my first peak reading.
