Why Quote an OP?
I have been on LIF for over a year and I still don't get why people quote an original poster in a response. I also notice that people have to specifically ask to not be quoted at times. Is there some reason to quote that I don't know about?

Re: Why Quote an OP?
I think sometimes it happens because people just happen to click on Quote instead of Reply when responding to a thread.
Some people ask to not be quoted if they're posting something that they might want to remove at a later time.

If the OP asked multiple questions, it's helpful to see the specific question.
Also, if there are multiple responses and the topic veers off course, a late responder could quote the OP to bring it back around.

Re: Why Quote an OP?
I quote when the post gets off track.....I use this so that everyone knows what my responce is in reference to. Sometimes there is a lot going on in one post and this makes it easier for people to follow along.

I quote so I can see exactly what the question is without having to scroll down and reread it. It is much easier to look at it above what I am typing.

Re: Why Quote an OP?
Some quote when the person is known to delete their threads after starting drama. Quoting allows everyone to read what was said after it is deleted.
I usually only quote later in the thread to respond to a specific statement from someone else.
