Why Our Dog(graphic)

This morning I wake up to see that my mom's dog $h!tted in the living room. He apparently had the runs...well the most horrible part was that when I woke up he was in the kitchen licking something up and most of you know the deal!!! GROSS....I almost passed out. I was sooooo mad at him. But I'm so grossed out! IS this normal......Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I don't want him to lick me anymore Chat Icon

Re: Why Our Dog

Yuk! Thats pretty gross but if he went in the house he was obviously sick and I heard that if they dont digest their poop fully, it still smells like their food to them so they eat it.

Ok where is the puke icon? Chat Icon

I hope your dog gets better...

If it helps, my cat eats all kinds of bugs on a daily basis..when I go to kiss him, I think twice..I'm afraid to know what he's attacked while we are not there..

I just recently bought these wipes that are for dogs and cats..every now and than, I wipe his paws and mouth area and fur with them..

Good luck!Chat Icon

Re: Why Our Dog(graphic)

Yeah. My sister's puppy had this probem he used to eat his own poo. The food he was eating wasn't very good apaprenlty and his body could not fully digest it, so his poo still smelled like food to him so he'd eat it. We swtiched his food and now the problem is gone. I'm sure that's what happenned to your mom's dog, he was sick and coudnlt fully digest the food, and then ate it. Chat Icon

White rice and chicken broth will help bind him and make him regular.
Also you can add some garlic to it so he won't eat his own poop.

You might just want to put him outside and let him eat some grass.. natures way of making his belly feel better.

Re: Why Our Dog(graphic)

Ebs had diarreah and someone here suggested mixing cottage cheese with white rice -- I was already giving him the white rice but added the cottage cheese. Good tip about the garlic tho!!

Give him ice to chew so he doesn't dehydrate.
