Why do I feel guilty about wanting to switch to generic formula?
I have done my research, compared ingredients and I KNOW that generic formula is the same as enfamil but somehow I feel guilty making the switch...
Anyone want to talk some sense into me

I am no help because I never did, and I understand how you feel! My friend always says how much money she saves, I just never made the switch wth DS1, and never did for DS2. I never even did powder! I am a RTF girl...lol!
I have to say that they are the same, and if you are on the fence...just do it!

Re: Why do I feel guilty about wanting to switch to generic formula?
do it! it's the same and so much cheaper For DD1 we had her on similac advance and bought it from costco. For DD 2 we've been using the target equivalent and she's absolutely fine. Ped had no problem with it either. It's $19.99 for a 40 oz can!!

I have the same problem and I have this ridiculous thought in my head that I will be favoring ds1 since I never went generic, lol. Sooo extremely stupid of me.

I never did to be honest... I'd rather take the cheaper route with other things and sacrifice in other areas.

I used generic with DS from about 6 months on and he never had a problem with it. we used the Gentlease equivlant.
FYI - 99% of your generics are made by the same company - HERE'S a link with all the companies made by PBM Products

Okay I am taking this to mean that store brand formula creates the formula for all the sties listed so for example if I buy it at CVS one day and Target the next it is the same exact formula bc it is all made by "store brand formula" but then has the store name of the place you buy it in..that is awesome and great to know!
ThAnk you for this link

Actually I am pretty sure this means that the SAME companies that make the brand name formula also make the generic formula. At least that's what I recall my ped telling me!

Based on what I read on site I don't think so bc they knock the big companies and say they guilt parents into spending more and waste money on marketing
But all the store name brands are the same stuff..so whether I buy at Bjs, target, or CVS the name brand at everyone of those is identical to the other. Makes life easier if say you are away and there is no CVS.

Re: Why do I feel guilty about wanting to switch to generic formula?
I used enfamil for my twins for 6 months.....I switched to target. I felt so guilty. I knew it was the same but I just felt like I was jipping them. I decided to switch at 6 months because they were also getting nutrition from fruits and veggies. The girls switched with no problem. One of the girls was always a fussy eater and did so much better on the target formula. Good luck it will be fine and your wallet will thank you!

PBM Products makes the generic formulas for ALL of the stores that are listed there. As far as I know, NO NAME BRAND COMPANY makes generic formula.
I usually bought Target formula, but did use the CVS one a few times when I had exrta care dollars. I found that Target was the only place (that I shop - I don't have a BJ's membership) that had the big can of formula and therefore was getting the most bang for my buck.

Same here. I'd rather use generic diapers/wipes. My SIL uses the Target brand and I don't think it dissolves as well.
Plus using a combo of sales, coupons, and formula checks I actually get the name brand for much cheaper! Also if there's a good sale, stock up. Don't just but 1 or 2. Just check expiration dates.

Re: Why do I feel guilty about wanting to switch to generic formula?
I have also thought about switching and feel guilty. I talked myself out of it saying he will be consuming less formula when he starts eating solids. But I'm still tempted...
I tried powder ONCE and he had such a bad reaction to it that I swore to never give him powder again.

Re: Why do I feel guilty about wanting to switch to generic formula?
I used Similac Advance for the first month with my twins. After asking the ped if I could switch to the BJ's brand (it even says equivalent to Similac Advance on the can) and she said absolutely, I have never looked back.
No issues. My twins are great. I have a bunch of friends that already used it which I guess made the transition so much easier for me. It is such a huge difference in price savings!
Besides, I have enough mommy guilt about a million other things that this doesn't really bother me (i.e. working FT, not being able to split myself in two for both of them, wishing they could each have their own room, thinking about having another, I could go on an on etc.).

Re: Why do I feel guilty about wanting to switch to generic formula?
I used Similac for DS but had to switch to Target brand for DD after the recall when she was 3 mos old. When I look back at how its the EXACT same ingredients I kick myself for not doing it with DS!
