Whooping Cough vaccine
Has anyone gotten it yet? Or is anyone planning or not planning on getting it.
My OB suggests it and so does our Ped. Our PCP doesn't have any and the ped suggested going to a local drug store.
I guess I'm just debating on getting it, bc I didn't get the H1N1 vaccine when I was pregnant with my DS.
Also if you did get the vaccine, did you have any sort of reaction from it?

Whooping Cough vaccine
I just got mine yesterday. With this whopping cough epidemic, I wanted to be on the safe side. So far, no reaction to it.

I got it when I took the baby for her first ped visit. My arm was red and swollen for a few days afterwards, my DH did not get a reaction..

Whooping Cough vaccine
I was never offered it at the hospital with DD. Now I've read that they are recommending getting it towards the end of the third trimester so the baby is protected for a short time after birth until they get their DTAPP vaccine.
I'm annoyed because a few years ago I got my tetanus shot update and my GP didn't give me the full DTAPP so I didn't get the pertussis part of it! DH had his last year and it included tetanus and pertussis.
I'm going to try to remember to inquire again at my next OB appointment now that we're in the 3rd tri.

Re: Whooping Cough vaccine
I was told that I can get it after I have the baby, in the hospital. I do plan on getting it. DH and my mom have already gotten theirs. It is recommended that anyone in close contact with the baby get the booster, bc whooping cough is deadly for newborns, adults who haven't received the booster are no longer immune, and the disease is on the rise again.
ETA: my Mom did have some swelling and itching at the injection sight, DH didn't have a reaction.

Re: Whooping Cough vaccine
The ped said both me and baby would be offered it. But DH would have to go get it himself. He can go to a pharmacy and get it?

Whooping Cough vaccine
my dh got it last fall- his dr recommended it, so then when I went to him sick I got him to give it to me.
Our grandmother said she went to her dr and asked about it and since she wants to be around her young great grandkids the dr gave it to her.

Re: Whooping Cough vaccine
After speaking with my Ob at the hospital, I declined it. I had an allergic reaction to the pertussis part of the DTP when I was an infant. I didn't want to take any chances of having another reaction and my OB agreed.

Re: Whooping Cough vaccine
I got it in the hospital right after DS was born. DH is going to get it from our regular doctor this weekend.
I had no reaction to it except my arm was a little sore the next day. Nothing I couldnt handle though.
