Who went to the Nikon Class today?
I did, with my SIL.
What did you all think? I thought both instructors were GREAT, very informative, knowledgeable and pics were stunning.
I am more overwhelmed than ever, I got so lost during so many parts just b/c technology isn't my thing, at all But I will try a few things soon...baby steps

See, I thought my reason for being so confused was that I am not a technology person, AT ALL...guess others were confused too. My SIL is a technology person, but even she was a bit confused...I guess because neither of us ever tried playing with our cameras prior to that to even be a little familiar with what they were talking about, we should have done that.

I thought it was a great workshop! Bill durrence went a little bit too fast at times with his part of the presentation... as soon as I started to jot down notes he'd be halfway into the next topic, which was kinda grr but the amount of material they covered was amazing.

It was definitely a fast-moving class. They covered TONS, but small amounts of each topic for the most part, IMO. I'm hoping the notes he flew through are in the booklet...I wasn't able to flip through the booklet and take notes at the same time, so I don't know.

I do think it was worthwhile to go, it was very informative and the presenters were very knowledgeable. I would read up a little bit on your camera at least first (I have barely read anything on my camera , it would have been helpful to have a little bit of info in my brain to relate to what they were talking about).

Re: Who went to the Nikon Class today?
i thought it was great, but i thought the 4th part should have been cut out and i wish they spent more time on how you know when to adjust aperture/ISO/etc. although i now understand their functions more, i wish they would have given more examples of how and when to adjust them. i'm still lost on it.
the whole adjusting the pictures section at the end was insane. i had no idea what he was talking about or why i would do those things to my pics. that should have been part of tomorrow's course.
overall i thought it was very good. i'm glad they had senses of humor. it went really fast. the lunch though...yuck

ITA. I actually just took off at around 4 because there is NO WAY I have the time to do what he was doing. I so much would have prefered figuring out that ISO nonsense. I actually got the vegetarian sandwich and it was pretty yummy! My friend hated her turkey though.

Re: Who went to the Nikon Class today?
My husband went to one of the ones that Berger Brothers sets up with Nikon. He thought it was great. I am sorry I missed it but I was sick that day. My husband prefers to learn from a class and I often prefer books, so I plan to buy one about my camera.

Re: Who went to the Nikon Class today?
I'm sorry I missed it I'm not sure how I would have done in a class like that?? Were people asking questions or were the instructors just plowing through material?? I've been having "lessons" from a photographer and find the hands on, one-on-one very helpful!

I'm glad everyone learned a lot! Sounds like it was worthwhile!
Now is everyone adjusting their white balances?
Let's see some photos...

Re: Who went to the Nikon Class today?
I went, and I thought it was a very good intro class. I agree though that I would have LOVED it if it were hands on. I am playing with the camera now and I feel like all my shots either the shutter is staying open too long or my shutter is not open wide enough. I have a feeling this will take me awhile to figure out.
