who makes "safe" fake food?
I want to get some for DD for play, but I am so concerend about paint, chemicals, etc
Any recs???

I love Melissa & Doug Wood Food. That is all we use.

I would not be so sure Etsy's vendors food is "safe". You don't know what kind of fabric, what it was treated with, if it contains lead, etc. It is not regulated in anyway.
No way would I order that if I was worried about safety.

I love Melissa & Doug Wood Food. That is all we use.
I wouldn't call M & D necessarily "safe". Some of their wooden toys have lead in the paints.
I buy Haba wooden toys, but only if made in Germany (some manufacturing recently moved to china).

They are very strict on their lead testing and they do not have lead in their paint.
Just because they manufacturer in China, does not mean that they are bad. Safe products can be produced in China, it just depends on who is watching over them.

They tell you flat out, merino wool felt, they will even tell you the brand of yarn they used if they asked. I mean they could lie, but ugh ... why would they? They are charging an arm and a leg 
I'm also really trying to buy things American/European made. For me I rather a few toys that are well made than a crapload of plastic from China. JMO ... you have to do what works for you.
