Who is planning to attend the Women's March next Saturday?
Prefacing this by requesting zero drama on this thread, please.
Anyone else planning to attend any of the Women's Marches happening around the world next week?
I'll be at the one here in NYC. Had planned on DC but lodging proved to be difficult to arrange/afford.

Re: Who is planning to attend the Women's March next Saturday?
I'm not - just not possible with the time of year (and I suck as an activist . ) My BF was trying to get me to go with her. Would you consider the bus trip - then no lodging needed. Her bus leaves from Brooklyn I think at 4:00AM or something and comes back that night. And I've seen some announced on PSN that leave at various locations from around 1:30 AM. Another friend was telling me I should come to the NYC one - but again, same issues above.
Be safe - I do worry there could be issues!!

Right here, with TWW.
There are buses that leave in the middle of the night and go round trip in one day. No lodging needed.
PM me for details!

I'll be here in NYC marching with my 4 month old daughter, my sister in law, and my mother in law.

Re: Who is planning to attend the Women's March next Saturday?
Thanks, guys!
I know about the round-trip busses with no need for lodging but I know that I will crash and burn from that...I considered it for a hot minute, but I don't have the stamina like I used to. Long term side effects from the cancer treatment a few years ago = need a ton of rest every night. One night of very disrupted rest could be a tailspin of not feeling well for a week. Oh, those darn inconvenient pre-existing conditions!
I'm excited to do the one here though!

I'm hoping to do the one in NYC. I was going to go to Washington, but I don't know anyone else going and I'm shy so the thought of that long a day on a bus with all strangers was a little too much for me.

I'm hoping to do the one in Munich on the 21st. It's with Democrats abroad.

Who is planning to attend the Women's March next Saturday?
I am not but there are a few buses that have been filled in my area. Seems like it will be a great turnout.

Trying to figure out logistics to get to the one in the city. I attended the march for women's lives in DC in 2004 and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life. Extremely empowering.

Re: Who is planning to attend the Women's March next Saturday?
Maybe the one in NYC- I have a few friends going so I'd get on the train with them. But I am not sure yet- my daughter has some things going on that day.
If anyone else is in the lower HV, there is also going to be a march across Walkway Over the Hudson. Event info

I would have loved to take my teenage daughter to this, it would be an amazing experience. She is ALL about women's right.
Unfortunately, her SAT's are being given at school that day.

Re: Who is planning to attend the Women's March next Saturday?
I'm going to try to come into the city. I wanted to go to DC but couldn't find any hotels and me on a big bus for hours would cause me major motion sickness.

Re: Who is planning to attend the Women's March next Saturday?
Sharing some useful information I got from another website if you're going.
1. Bring your phone and back up battery but DO NOT RELY ON IT-meaning, with upwards of 400,000 people using phones service will likely be slow or nonexistent for some. Bring paper copies of maps and information. Let family know they may not hear from you until later in the evening. 2. As of today BACKPACKS NOT ALLOWED. Fanny packs, shoulder bags and crossbody bags all ok. 3. Don't bring an umbrella, bring a poncho. 4. Think about things like-incontinence issues, having your period etc and use of porta-potties and be prepared before you get there and bring appropriate supplies including wipes! 5. Double knot your shoes! 6. If you are in a group have a buddy that you stick with. Make sure your entire group has a meet up safety spot in case you get separated. 7. Check the National website for updates daily 8. If you see somebody being harassed by law enforcement do not intervene as it will not help that person and could put you in harms way as well. Look for someone in a green "legal observer" cap and let them know all the details of what you are seeing. They will take it from there. 9. Be thoughtful about carrying signs-they can be a hassle and you can expect to be walking for 3-5 hours. 10. Write most important info on inside of your arm in permanent marker. 11. Bring ear plugs 12. 2 other groups will be there the same weekend-Westboro Baptist Church and Occupy. WBC will try to insight you and use children in their fight against us. Do not engage with them (as much as you want to..) Occupy is something we should try to steer clear of as they are more likely to be ready to get rowdy and be more incendiary. They are ready to go to jail. It is your call but understand that going in. 13. Police can stop you. You can refuse to answer questions but you should not lie to them. Police can lie to you. Ask them if you are free to go, if they say yes then keep moving and do not engage. 14. In the unlikely event that you are arrested a bail bondsman will take credit cards but judges take cash only. 15. In the unlikely event that you are pepper sprayed milk of magnesia is the best thing for your eyes but water or milk will work in a pinch. You will need to discard the clothing at some point.

I just read there are 6x as many bus permit requests for the march than there are for the inauguration!

You may be right. This is not something I would ever participate in, and don't want post to get off track so I won't elaborate, but I work for a law school and we have a group who wants to go, and I cannot contract a bus for them because none are available.
