Who is getting/got a "push present"?
A gift for giving birth? I never heard of it until I read about it in a book, but ever since then, I've been hearing about it in a bunch of other places and from other people.
What did you get, if you got something? Are you expecting something? I can't imagine that if I didn't know about his that DH would so he would need some major hinting!! Did you tell your DH he was supposed to get you something?

Oh my... considering how much we will be spending in anticipation of our little one, I don't think I could even expect DH to spend any more money on a "push" present!

I agree with Bxgell about a gift for giving birth but I do hope he would bring flowers or a balloon or something.

I was reading the Girlfriends Guide to pregnancy in bed one nite w/DH. In one of the chapter's there's a little paragraph with a title that says. hand this over to your husband, and it explains how you should never come to the hospital empty handed.... and preferably you come with something sparkly.
I'm not expecting anything, because like most everyone else, we are spending a lot of money for the baby - It would be nice though, since our baby is due the week of my b-day.

DH got me jewelry from him and the baby that he gave me the morning we were leaving the hospital. His mom called him and told him that nowadays it's "expected" for him to get me a "nice" gift. LOL.

I didn't ever think I would get anything but I got a birth gift combined Valentines Day gift (baby was born on Feb 1st). He bought me a nice Gucci watch. I was surprised. It was fitting because my old regular watch had stopped in the hospital.

I hadn't heard of it until I read it in the Girlfriends Guide. I'm certainly not expecting anything from DH, but it would be kind of nice to get a little something.

Re: Who is getting/got a "push present"?
With my first child, I gave birth two days before Mother's Day, and I brought my son home on Mother's Day...so, DH bought me a pair of earrings w/the baby's birthstone (emerald).

Re: Who is getting/got a "push present"?
My friends call this a "birthing present/gift" and I have my DH convinced that this is something that is expected...especially the diamond earrings my best friend got for her first baby

Re: Who is getting/got a "push present"?
I had never heard of this either, however my friend just had her second baby Thursday morning...
and when he hubby called me to tell me, he said he was going to the store to get another little girl to add to her people necklace, so he could give it to her as a gift...
Im not expecting anything like that...but flowers or something would be nice!

I've heard about some DH buying a gift for their wife, but I doubt mine will. I just want his help at home so I can rest!!!

Re: Who is getting/got a "push present"?
I may get flamed for this but I'm feeling daring today
Its not like I expected him to be standing at the edge of the bed with 5 carat diamond earrings but I honestly wanted a little something. My pregnancy was extremely difficult (bedrest, bleeding, severe swelling) so at the end of it I just wanted something for me from DH more as a keepsake as a reminder that I "made it". It didn't need to be jewelry - I collect Precious Moments so one of those would have been great. A gift certificate for a facial or even mani/pedi would have been great too. Or even a really sweet card with a balloon so I could put it in a scrapbook.
I think what made me feel even worse was the other girl in the room got dozens of flowers, gifts and her husband brought her food every night from all these great local restuarants which 1/2 were from my favorite places. Mine would show up with food and go "oh, did you want something?" Thank goodness for my grandmother or I would have starved.
I'm curious to see what happens in December when baby #2 arrives.

Re: Who is getting/got a "push present"?
I had flowers waiting for me when I got out of the hospital-I told him not to bring me any to the hospital because between friends and family my room looked like a friggin pink florist!!!! My hubby said his 2 biggest gifts to me were to get central ac since I was preggo thoroughout the summer and he re-did the whole baby's room from top to bottom and worked so hard on it every night after work for weeks-that was present enough

Re: Who is getting/got a "push present"?
My DH is one of those people who buys me a gift for every occasion. My pregnancy has had a lot of tough up and downs so I know he will either get me jewelry or flowers. We are in the process of closing on our house so that will probably be a big part of it. I think it is nice to get a little something after going through the whole PG, yes the baby is the best gift of all. Most people I know got a card and flowers from DH and the new baby, or jewelry usually the mother and child pendant or a figurine of a mom and baby. It is nice to have a keepsake to remind you of that day.

My husband cleared and sodded the 1/4 acre in our backyard, painted the entire house, built a pond, made a garden for our son outside of his nursery window. All things we could enjoy as a family together.

Flowers would be nice. Like lots of others have said...we'll be spending soooo much money on other baby stuff...I don't really expect something sparkly...my birthday is only 6 days away from my due date though...

I never heard of it, but I did get a gorgeous Charm bracelet with babystuff on it. It was a surpise! I wasn't expecting anything! He gave it to me right after the delivery.
