Who do you tell first?

Besides dh? Are you telling both sets of parents together? Or do you tell them separately?

I'm dying to tell my mom and sister. But we weren't planning on telling our families for a little bit.

Is it wrong to tell mom and sis and not my dad or his parents?

Don't know what to do!

I went in this order, my mom, my dad, my brother and SIL, DH's mom, stepdad, brother and SIL. then DH's dad and stepmom.....

We told my parents one day and then DH's parents the next day. I was about 7 wks at the time. I would have waited longer, but it was Christmas and DH's parents were in from out of state. We swore them to secrecy until 12 wks. That's when we started telling other family members and friends.

Who you tell and when you tell them is a personal choice. Do what feels right for you.

We told my mom at 6w after the first appt. We told DH's mom a week later.

It really all depends on your and your DH's relationship with their parents.

I told my sisters first, then my parents came over the following weekend and we told them then, and now we're going to tell the inlaws this weekend. I just had a sono and heard the baby's heartbeat.
We won't tell relatives until im 12 weeks.

We told my older brother first - basically as soon as we knew. We told my mom, step-dad, little brother and grandmother at 6 weeks. We went to DH's parent's house that night to tell them.

I'm 8 weeks now. My dad is next on my list to tell.

We told my parents right away (I was only 3 weeks) and didn't tell my ILs until 6 weeks. My parents know what "don't tell anyone" means more then my ILs do.

My twin sister knew even before DH. He was at work when I took the test I was so excited I had to tell someone. Then I told Dh, next was my parents, then his parents and brother. After that we waited til we heard a heartbeat to tell anyone else.

With DS, we decided that we didn't want to tell anyone till 12 wks. We ended up telling both of our families at the same time at 9 wks 5 days. It was xmas eve, everyone was together and it just seemed like the right thing to do. I'm so glad we did. I was pretty sure my IL's would blab to the WORLD but DH made it 100% clear to them that this was not their news to spread and to their credit, they kept it to themselves for a whole week b/f we told extended family and friends. Oh, I told my BF on xmas day.
For this baby, again we want to wait 12 wks but since I am taking progesterone, and look preggo already at 6wks, we will prob tell everyone after our 1st appt at 8 wks. We will do it all on the same day. Go to IL's house, maybe invite my SIL and her family over and facetime my dad. Of course, I will call BF in between even though I think she already knows.

Both times we told our parents together. The first was at 5 weeks and the second Was at 6 weeks.

So I couldn't take it so I told my sis... We are going to wait to tell everyone else!!

I think it's cool to tell all the grandparents together IF YOU CAN and they have that sort of relationship.


My parents are out of state though. So we waited until right before I was going home and told my inlaws and then go to tell my parents a few days later.

My mom, then my dad, then my best friend and her DH, then my in laws. This was all within a week, when I was around 5 weeks. We told everyone else around 10 weeks.

We told in laws first bc DH was not able to hide it. Then we told my family 3weeks later.

After DH I posted on the infertility board and that was it for quite a few weeks. I then told a coworker and one of my besties. At 7 1/2 weeks I told my parents and DH told his(ILs live OOS). I told work at 10 weeks(not my first and had a growing bump). A lot of other family and friends don't know yet. I haven't told my brother but we aren't close anyway. Still have some telling to do.

DH parents first (because we live with them) then my parents and my silbings.

I told my mom and my best friend right away, since we were going through fertility treatments and they were very supportive and knew all the specifics.

We told our in laws when we saw them in person at around 10 weeks - they live out of state so we wanted to do it in person.

For DS we told my parents, then brother, then DH's parents and then DH's brother and sister in law. I can't remember if we told them on the same exact day or weekend but they were very close together time-wise.

This time, assuming all goes well at my first appt., we will tell them all on Mother's Day (separately). I'll be about 10 weeks then.

i told my mom and my sister right away.

everyone else in the family we waited a little bit longer but they all knew fairly early.

Friends and work were told later on.

DH and BFF as soon as I pee'd on the stick.

Both sets of parents at 9 weeks. Friends and rest of family at 12 weeks.

I told my sister immediately, then 4 of my best friends that I knew I could trust around 5 weeks. Then I told my parents and a couple other of my close friends at 9 weeks, my inlaws at 10 weeks, then my coworkers, other friends, etc. Going facebook official after my NT scan. (day after tomorrow!!)

For our first child we told my parents first. For the second and third, we told both sets of parents together.

I think it was around 10 weeks that we started telling friends and extended family. If it was up to me I wouldn't announced it until well after 20 weeks lol, but DH and my parents would never have been able to hold it in for that long.
