I don't remember the brand, since babies can sleep on pretty much anything. I made sure that it fit the crib. Even though cribs and mattresses are "standard" sizes, they do vary a little. I've seen up to 2 inches difference in length between mattresses. It doesn't matter how expensive, comfortable, etc the mattress is. If it doesn't fit right, there will be a gap on the edges that DC can get fingers, toes, arms, etc caught in.

OMG - I just posted about this the other day. The lady at BBB made me register for a $349 colgate monarch crib mattress & I don't know what to do!

Your DC will fall asleep on the bare floor, on top of toys, on your chest, in the carseat, in the highchair, and anywhere else that looks totally uncomfortable. They apparently won't care about the mattress..... I saved my money on the mattress and spent it on more important things. Plus, they won't be using it for that long, anyway.....
