Which breastpump are you getting?
Is it just me or do these electric breastpumps look painful?!?!
I'm assuming everyone gets the electric vs the manual ones.

Re: Which breastpump are you getting?
I have an electric from my first child. Honestly, everything hurts your breasts in the beginning. If you brush up against your breasts, you are going to feel like crying. It takes a while for the nipples to toughen up and get used to being suckled or pumped multiple times a day. Electric pumps are efficient and quicker than manual.
I have the Medela pump in style advanced. I would highly recommend it!

Re: Which breastpump are you getting?
It depends how often you're using it and where... I got the medela harmony manual pump because I'll be using it to occassionally reduce the engorgement. I'll also be using it at work 'cus the electric one is just too noisy and cumbersome to bring back and forth and use at the office.

If you only want to pump now and then, the Avent Isis is a fabulous manual pump and all you will need.
If you're going back to work and plan on feeding DC pumped milk on a regular basis go for the Medela Pump in Style Advanced.
I never thought pumping hurt. With the electric ones you can adjust the level to make it right for you.

Re: Which breastpump are you getting?
Pumping only hurt at the beginning for me with last pregnancy.. but so did breastfeeding. Your nipples are soo sensitive and then once it gets used to them being used in this way, they start to get less sensitive. Make sure either way you get the lanisol (sp?) breastfeeding cream to put on nipples.. this stuff is heaven when it comes to the nipples cracking.
eta: went off topic lol.. Im using the medeal pump advance again, I had the playtex one at beginning of last pregnancy and it was horrible (IMO). and switched to medela and I loved it.

I have the Ameda Purely Yours double electric pump. i just bought this one for DD#2 and love it because it's perfect for me. it's a little loud, so i don't know if i'd hook it up in the office (i'm a SAHM so it's not an issue), but i was pleasantly surprised at the suction compared to the ameda hospital grade i initially rented.
with DD#1 i rented a madela hospital grade pump and prefer the ameda system over madela due because one doesn't have to mess with cleaning the tubing.

Same here. I have 3 SILs that rave about it and claim others aren't good.
