where would you have it?
I need to figure out where to have a party once the baby is born being that I am jewish. 8 days after the baby is born I will either have a briss or a baby naming. I am deciding what is most suitable for a newborn party yet being that we will be exhausted and would like to have a nice party but not overextravagant either and not alot of work. I will be living in a 2 bdrm apt complex with a gorgeous club house, I can do it at my moms, or I can take it to a restaurant. Which would you choose and y?

I would do the clubhouse-close to your house for transporting gifts convenient for you, etc.

I think the clubhouse would be good - you could always go back home & put the baby to sleep and ask a relative from the party to stay there for you or something. I think it would be more convenient.

stay close to home. The baby will likely be sleeping part of the time, you'll be tired, and honestly, you really don't want to be far from home. I didn't want to go anywhere the first few weeks.
Being at home will also allow you to give the baby privacy and keep it away from germs, etc.

Re: where would you have it?
You should keep the following two things in mind:
a) you can't have a briss in a restaurant. The restaurant will not want your child circumsized on their premises. I guess you could have the ceremony in your home and then go to a restaurant but someone would have to stay with the baby. That does not seem to make a lot of sense.
b) A baby naming does not have to be within 8 days of the child's birth you can wait a few months. Which is better since you will be in better shape and the baby will have gotten shots and it won't be as dangerous to have her around so many people. Especially in the winter.

I think you moms house. THe club house is a great idea, but you are going to be very exhaused 8 days after having the baby. With the clubhoue, you have to set everything up, get food in, clean up, its a lot of work. I think something a little less informal at your moms would work out better. JMO.

I forgot to add my mom lives in a house a block away from me so basically I guess everyone recommends my moms or the clubhouse. I also agree that with the clubhouse I will probably have to set up, no? I was thinking of ordering bagel platters and that good stuff.

Most clubhouses expect you to leave the room in the condition you found it- that means setting up and breaking down your own party. But maybe you can hire a younger cousin/teenager to do the cleanup for like $25. Though I do think it may be easiest to have it at your moms. That way if the baby falls alseep you can put him/her in another room while the adults still eat and mingle.
