I think it is time that Dh and I go and see some sort of specialist, we have been ttc for over a year now and even after testing for ovulation, nothing has happened yet...where do I go first....my OBGYN? Or right to some specialist?....please help

I would go right to a specialist. Maybe someone on the board can recommend a doctor.

Re: Where to go...

Many girls on here rave about Dr. Braverman. I wish I would have gone to him instead of where I went for my IVF. When/if we're ready to do another IVF I will be going directly to him.

you can also try asking on the Infertility board for a doctor recommendation.

Re: Where to go...

I was under the care of and re after a dh and tried for a few months. I saw dr zapantis at east coast fertility in plainview. I thought he was great. First you would have a consult and go for some preliminary tests. Once all the results are back you would discuss a plan and the next steps. It can't hurt to go for a consult. I know the monthjs of bfn's hurt more. Good luck Chat Icon

First off Chat Icon Chat Icon

I understand your frusturation.

I waited about 9 months and then went back to my OB/Gyn to start testing. We started with CD 3 bloodwork and an HSG for me. DH had an SA. Everything came back ok and I was told to give it 3 more months after the HSG. I went with my gut and started seeing an RE anyways. He did some more testing and even though we havent found anything except for DH's morphology being on the low end (as per a second SA) I'm glad I went for help when I did, because it's been 3 months and now I am ready for my first IUI. We still don't have the answers that we want but after trying for over 1 year, I'm at the point now where I just want to get pregnant and don't care how I have to do it.

My advice is if your insurance covers it and you don't need a recommendation, skip going to your Dr. and go straight to an RE. You can definitely get a lot of recommendations on the Infertility board. I go to LI LIVF and see Dr. Brenner. I chose him because one of my best friends went to him as well as a couple of other people I know. Also, he is right near my house. Do your research and don't be afraid to ask too many questions. And even though it can be a little disheartening at first, you may want to introduce yourself on the infertility board. The ladies over there are unbelievably helpful and a wealth of knowledge (not that the ladies over here aren't just as amazing).

FM me if I can help in any way. Chat Icon

Re: Where to go...

Thank you so much for the advise. It really does help
I just cant believe how difficult it is to get pregnant. I always thought this would be such an easy process. :(
I think I will head over to the infertility board as well, and see whats going on over there
I really appreciate it ladies..thanks again
