Where did you register? At how many places did you register?
I like BBB better but I was thinking I should switch to BRU since there are more stores. I didn't realize how few stores BBB had.
My friends are urging me to register at some high end boutiques in Manhattan. I don't even know what these boutiques are. I've never shopped for baby stuff before!

Re: Where did you register? At how many places did you register?
i have been playing with registries for a few weeks now (since there is so much research that goes into it)...
i've decided to register at both BBB and BRU because they both do not have the same stuff - there are things at BRU that i can't find at BBB and some things are cheaper, etc... I made sure i was careful to comparison shop - so if something was cheaper at BRU - it's on that registry....
I feel weird/bad for registering at 2 places, but i don't want people spending that much money on us...and there are some things that are a 20 dollar price different from site to site.

I registered at BRU & BBB.
Personally, I liked BBB much better, but BRU is more well known and has more stores.
And what ended up happening is only one person bought things off my BBB registry, and everything else came off BRU. So to give people more options, I would register at both.

Re: Where did you register? At how many places did you register?
I just registered at BRU only. Everything I needed was there, and I really didn't see the need to register elsewhere.
The only thing they didn't have is the stroller I want. BBB does have the stroller, but they don't carry the color I want, so I'm going to get it somewhere else that does. We'll buy it ourselves as I think it's silly to register at one place for one item.

I totally know what you mean. I want to tell everyone about coupons and whatnot but it just seems strange to tell people that.
I actually don't like the idea of people buying us items altogether. I like to give other people gifts but don't enjoy receiving them. We've been buying baby items for a few months now. Now I feel like I don't have enough stuff on my registry.

Re: Where did you register? At how many places did you register?
We are registered at BBB for baby gear, necessities and basics... And for nursery and decor items, are registered at PBK.
I don't really see the need to register at a boutique-- I have been a to few, and the gear-like stuff- they have at the other stores, for less money.. and the other stuff, you don't really need to register for like clothing, etc.-- people will buy that regardless. Anything else-- is personal, like diaper bags, and you'll probably just get on your own.
I guess it depends where you live-- but there is a BBB in Manhattan on 7th and 26th and I think 2 or so on LI in central locations. They also have them in Westchester and suburban NJ. Anyone else, can just buy online. I usually just buy s gift online and have it sent to the couple anyway-- unless I am going to a shower which my friends don't usually have. Then I will bring a small little thing when I actually go see the new baby-- something non-registry.

Is it normal to send it vs take the gift with you to the shower?
I was thinking half the fun of a shower was to watch the future mom open gifts.
I've only been to one baby shower in my life. I am the pioneer amongst my friends - first to be married, first to have a baby.

People will definitely bring the gift with them to the shower... But I think that there are enough BBBs in the area for people to get to. Plus, with a shower-- people have 6 to 8 weeks to go and get a gift. If they have to drive an extra 20 mins, what's the big deal?
Most of my friends are jewish, so-- gifts are just purchased and sent once you know the baby has been born-- no shower. I was told to expect the UPS guy every day and to have DH breaking down a ton of boxes every night. So, I guess that's just my experience.

I registered at both BBB and BRU.
A lot of people I know live out east, so BBB isn't practical for them...but I like BBB (and you can use non-expired Bed Bath and Beyond coupons there, which is a great perk).

Re: Where did you register? At how many places did you register?
I'm registering at BBB, BRU and Restoration Hardware Baby. I would like to just register at BBB but I think it's easier for some people, especially our close family to get to BRU since we live very close to it.
