Re: Where did everyone start..
First month we winged it. Then it became obvious that my cycle had not corrected itself over the 9 years I was on BCP. Second cycle I charted and used OPK's and got my BFP. This would add stres to a lot of women's lives but it made mine far easier as my first cycle was 39 days and the second was 48 days; I never would have 'guessed' the right time to BD.
If I had more regular cycles, I might have gone a few months on our own.

Re: Where did everyone start..
This is our first cycle.. I have been keeping track of my periods for a few months now so I entered it all into "fertility friend" and it showed I am ovulating this weekend and so we started. I just got my IUD removed on Friday and O was supposed to be Friday, Sat or Sun so the chances that a) we caught the O and b) my uterus is ready that fast are slim but we figured hey whatever.. we'll try. Anyway.. I digress... Fertility friend (it'a a website) is good and easy. You don't have to do the temp charting but it shows you how to pay attention to your cervical fluids which is really important and easy to do if you don't want to start with the temp charting. I want to try a few months without that. My doctor said to BD every other day from day 10 to 20... So that his sperm are mature.. I have heard different advice though. Like.. Every other day until 6 days before O and then every day..
Anyway that is the knowledge I have collected in the past few days..

Re: Where did everyone start..
Buy the book, "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" and the accompanying computer program. This will help you understand your cycle and the fertility signs to look for during the month so you BD during the right time.

Re: Where did everyone start..
Before we started ttc I read TCOYF and after I went off the pill I used fertility friend. This is only really our second month trying b/c in April (1st month off the pill) DH was away when I was ovulating. I don't temp or anything, I just look for changes in cervical fluid. If we don't get pregnant in a couple of months then I think we'll step it up a notch and temp. We also use preseed but I need a lubricant anyway

Re: Where did everyone start..
Don't use lubricants because they can kill the little swimmers. The only one I know that is good for TTC is preseed. Baby carrots are known to make your cervical mucus more abundant, which helps the swimmers get where they are going.

Re: Where did everyone start..
I am reading TCYOF and using fertility friend. I have been on BC for a few years so I am not really going to start trying until a couple of months or so. I just started charting this month.
