Where are your child's toys kept?

I'd also love to see pics of what you've done to organize them ---

--- right now we have clear shoebox sized storage bins for all the smaller things like little people/accessoris, barbies, dress up clothes, etc. Since we are mid-move I don't have any decent pics.

All of her toys are in our living room. I bought a plastic container that is a little larger then a shoe box for all of her plastic food and everything else she has is kept in a pop up square container along the wall.

UGH! All over the place.

We bought one of those shelves with those plastic bins in it but I feel like its not a great help since so many of her toys are big.

So we put little things in there, some books which we keep in the extra room down here.

Her bigger toys are in a freakin laundry basket. Classy huh? LOL

I bought some clear bins for random things.

But all in all..everything is a mess all the time. I cant seem to get it organized. Her play kitchen is in the living room but its where the christmas tree goes so i am going to have to make room for that pretty soon too. UGH!

In our family room there is 1 toybox with toys and another with costumes. One basket with stuffed animals. The play food and pots and stuff are stored in the play kitchen or in the play shopping cart. Puzzles are on 1 shelf of the bookshelf. Board games are on top of the bookshelf.

In their bedrooms they each have a toybox for even more toys.

Re: Where are your child's toys kept?

I have a toybox in our living room and a few bigger toys are kept there. There is a toybox in her bedroom, and a third on our sun porch. If it's not something she sits on or is bigger than the toy box it goes in the box.

I clean them up at the end of the day usually, or after we finish playing in that room and just toss everything in the box. Once a month I go through each box, take out what she doesn't play with anymore and clean everything.

I have a separate toy room for the kids - I have a toy box for Jake that he got as a gist when her was 1 year old. I just bought recently toy storage boxes from IKEA that I put alot of toys in too. And we have a big wicker basket that keeps Ella's things in. Plus there is alot on the floorChat Icon If I figure out how to post pictures I will add them on later to show you.

Re: Where are your child's toys kept?

In our new house we have a designated playroom. It's perfect -- right off of the family room. DD does bring some toys out, but they always go back in there. I still need to get some stuff to organize them. I love what PB Kids has, but Chat Icon I was eyeing something on sale at Target this week, but still have not bought anything. I couldn't find it in the store when I went the other day. So right now most of the toys are in big wicker-type baskets.

Re: Where are your child's toys kept?

No, no no no, you do NOT want to see pictures of our toy room LOL Chat Icon

Its our spare room/computer room/office/part my closet and it is herrendous. I keep telling myself "tonight I will go in there and clean it out" but now I have a good excuse.. the new job is just too much Chat Icon

The problem is that Kaila has way to many toys, and the room is so small. I refuse to keep any toys in the living room, we already have her play kitchen and easel out there. Its tough, one day Ill figure it out, one day Chat Icon

Re: Where are your child's toys kept?

Right now we have a big basket in the den and his jumperoo, etc is in there. But, it's a small den and Daddy misses his "media" room so we're converting our DR into a playroom for the time being since I don't have furniture yet and the set on my wish list is too $$ right now so we'll let him have it - for now.

Re: Where are your child's toys kept?

All of you guys saying that you have 1 toybox, or 2 toyboxes.......how is that even possible?!?!?!

We have a large fisher price toybox pretty much just filled with stuffed animals and soft toys like balls and stuff.

Probably about 10 shoebox sized boxes for smalller toys.

Not to mention the kichen set, HUGE desk (I wish it weren't so big, I wish my dad had jst gotten her a regular easel), plus all of the "big" toys that don't fit in anything like the dollhouse, baby crib, etc.

We are going to have way more storage in the house but as I pack things up I get more and more worried that we are still going to have toys all over the place!!

And a designated toyroom is not possible, at all!!

My ENTIRE basement is my sons' playroom. You name it, they have it. It's all downstairs, though. I don't keep ANY toys upstairs at all.

I love the fact that at the end of the day, I close the door to the basement, and I don't see any mess...until the next morning. Chat Icon

Same here, except we do have some in baskets in his room and in the living room.

Smaller things, blocks, etc.

We have a finished basement that has a play room. I try to keep 99% of the toys down there, only problem is she doesn't ever want to be down there by herself so that's hard when I have things I need to get done and is going to be even more challenging when DS comes.

They're not as organized as I would like though. That's the next project.

All over our family room where we hang out but mostly on our fireplace since its raised it makes a nice playing area.

But I have to move it this winter- I want to go back to having fires now that I know she won't just climb up there anymore.

Re: Where are your child's toys kept?

The toys that are for his room are in his toybox. The toys that he plays with while in the PNP (like when I am cooking or cleaning) are in a bin in the LR.

Re: Where are your child's toys kept?

My living room holds the bigger items:
Some things are:
FP Learning Home
Basketball game
Bin with Books
Bin with smaller toys and balls

My office/playroom has some of the smaller more annoying toys - we have two kids storage units holding toys - and three toy bins in here.

In the storage units we keep the little people, more balls, animals, shapes, animal magnets, then we have legos in here, the ball pit, puzzles, books, and the bins filled with toys.

So - basically within these two rooms during the day - there are toys everywhere.

I put it all back in it's appropriate spot when he goes to bed at night and during nap time bc I like it to be organized for him when he wakes up.

Luckily I have a large living roomChat Icon

About 1/3 of the room is solely toys. He has big stuff out here and a plastic bin full of little stuff too, plus a new wicker basket of books out here as well.

I recently moved his FP kitchen, basketball hoop and a soft Elmo chair to his room to manage my space better.

But my house is a disaster. He loves to play cars allllll day long and there are cars and trucks all over my couches, my futon, my coffee table and the floor.

Plus my BFF bought him a ball pit and those balls have become my worst enemy and he LOVES them!!

Re: Where are your child's toys kept?

They used to be all over our living room- what a disaster! We wanted our adult space back and definitely don't have an extra room. So what we decided to do was make our dining room table smaller (took out the leaf) and trun it sideways closer to the window, and the outer part of the room has become the toy area. In that space we have 2 bookshelves( which are both overflowing with books and toys), his play kitchen, drawing desk, small ride-on toys and a laundry basket type thing filled with idd shaped toys. Then we have the 5 smaller storage boxes that hold all of his smaller things (instruments, Little People, cars, etc...)

I bought this from Ikea. The cubicles are customizable so you can have drawers, doors or bins. I put the toys in the bins at the bottom. We will move things around as he starts walking / crawling.

I have open rattan baskets right now - one large and 2 smaller one. I am hopinh to get a toy box for some of his toys and then move the large basket into the living room.
