When your DC wake up do you get up right away?

Normally when the boys wake up I get out of bed within 5-10 minutes and we begin our day but more and more I hear that people will leave them for a bit to play or bring them in their room for a bit.
I'm just curious if I'm the minority.
I would love to stay in bed longer but seems weird when they are awake

My DS is still in his crib and plays for a good 30 minutes before i go in to get him. I then bring him into bed with DH and I to cuddle and watch some tv before we get up for the day.

Both kids want to get up immediately. They scream as soon as their eyes open. Now they are both in beds so they come waltzing in my room each morning. I can't imagine them just sitting in their crib, never happened and never will!

With both our boys (3 and 1), we don't usually go in to them until they ask to get up. They both wake up, and play in their crib/room for a while. Our 3yo will read books, play with toys, whatever. Our 1yo walks around his crib, talks/sings to himself, plays with his mobile projector or crib piano, etc. 3yo will walk up to the monitor and say "Mommy? Can you come get me?" lol. 1yo will start to whine or call "Mama" or "Dada." As long as they are happy, it's a great way to help them work on independence and and self-confidence.

DS always whimpers, then cries when he wakes up. I dont go in to get him until he stands up in the crib and looks towards the bedroom door---- after that he's not going back to sleep.

I usually wait about 5 mins to get DD once she wakes up because she stands and walks around her crib a little bit and talks to herself... then she starts whining to get out. But we bring her in our bed and watch Sesame Street and cuddle until she gets restless and then we get up and start the day.

one twin wakes up and screams as though her arm has been ripped off. We get her up as quickly as we can, for we dont want her screaming or waking her sister up. The other can hang out for a bit and entertain herself. Usually her sister is up so we are as well, so we just get her up.

Nah. Not unless I have to go somewhere. She talks to her dolly, plays peekaboo with the video monitor (which is just really freaking funny to watch). Sometimes I pray she will go back to sleep too. She doesn't whine to come out unless she has a poopy diaper. I can usually tell right away because of the urgency in her babble.

DS is in and out of sleep for quite a while in the mornings, but I shower first and then get him up. he can be up for 5 mins or 30 mins by that point...he doesn't really cry in the mornings in his crib.

Nap time is a different story!

If the house is quiet, DD will stay in her crib and play. Sometimes she'll lay down and fall back asleep. I am not a morning person so I've really lucked out in this department!!

My DS is 3 and usually comes into out room all ready to go when he wakes up, some mornings he gets up earlier than normal and comes in with his blanket and just goes back to sleep next to us...so it depends on the day

Depends. Sometimes DD is content to play in her crib by herself. I'll leave her until she starts calling for us. Other days she wants us right away. We get up whenever she calls for us and start our day.

I used to leave her for a bit to entertain herself. However, lately she seems to always have a poopy diaper in the morning, so I try to get her within 5 minutes of her waking up.

I let her play by herself until she starts to fuss then we take her out and she hangs out with us until she is hungry

In the morning she usually hangs out chatting and singing for a bit before I get her. Once I drag myself out of bed i usually go to the bathroom, make coffee, etc before I get her. If she woke too early and is still tired then she'll cry right away so I'll get her quicker.

When she was in her crib she may have woken up and just played quietly. It never bothered me. But if I heard her whine or get fussy I'd go in.

When she got old enough to talk she was already in a toddler bed. She'd play in her room for a bit but not long. Then she'd call for us.

Now she's 4 and very capable of getting out of her room. I think she plays for a bit then she'll walk into our room and tell us "Get up, its sunny day!"



But if I HEARD her, I got up. Mostly she plays quietly. Not because I told her to, or even care, but because she does. When she gets loud enough for me to hear (which isn't too loud) through the monitor I will wake up. If I have to go to the bathroom or make any sound she'll know I'm up and all bets are off.

But I never let her cry in her crib or bed, ever. For that I was like a rocket over to her side. Or I'd elbow hubby if she called for Daddy LOL

My 2.5 yr knows she has to stay in bed until mommy or daddy come get her. She gets up at 6:30 I leave her to 7. She usually sings, I leave books on her night stand so she pretends to read.

I get up when DD2 gets up.

DD1 is in our bed pretty much every night and she sleeps later.

If DD1 gets up really early (before 7 ) I'll give her a bottle and bring her into my bed and let her watch TV for awhile

I leave ds2 up to 30mins. Ds1 is 5 so he will get up and entertain himself, but I did the same thing with him when he was younger. He actually loved hanging out in his crib!

We wait at least a half hour before getting DD, unless she is crying. Sometimes she even falls back asleep.

I think it's different for older kids. When my kids were infants I got up as soon as they started crying - I just never heard them if they were playing quietly in their cribs.

My DD is almost 3 and she wakes up early now that she's in a bed - around 6/6:30am - but she has a gate up so she stays in her room and plays very nicely until the rest of us get up.

On weekends, DS (almost 4.5) usually wakes up between 7 and 7:30, so I will get up a few minutes after he does. He begs for milk and breakfast right away so I feel bad making him wait.

At 5 and 2, they would head downstairs and he would get her yogurt or make her pbj.
once i had a houseguest here and flipped that they were eating carrots while i was sleeping. so we switched to carrot chips.
i use to think they were super duper for doing this...now i just realize it is one less hour that they have to deal with me.

They are usually content to play for 30 min to an hour once they wake up. DS wakes up first, will play a bit and then start yelling across the room to wake up DD. Then they talk and play together.
I do however watch the monitor like a hawk because DS has climbed out of his crib once. If he starts to look like he may try again...I go in right away.

DD is only 8.5 months but we leave her in her crib for about 15-30 mins before we go get her.
