i havent started yet but i have been doing it in the bottle and noticed he eats less sometimes. Is it bc the ceral now counts for some of his calorie intake raher than just the formula?

Ask your ped, but from what I remember the cereal was in addition to the formula. He had to maintain 28 - 32 oz of formula per day.

We maintained the same amount of bm until she was eating 2-3 solid meals a day. She slowly started drinking less on her own..I then decreased her bottles by 1-2 oz.

On the advice of my ped, I did, but my DS was up to about 40 oz per day when we started solids. Chat Icon

I started decreasing the amount in one of his bottles when I noticed he wasn't really drinking all of it. Then, when he was eating 4 tbsp of cereal twice a day, I dropped one of the bottles. Then, when we went to Stage 2 food and 3 solid meals a day, I dropped another bottle. Now, he has 3 bottles and 3 solid meals each day.

DS kept the same amount of formula at first, the Dr said to watch him for signs. Eventually we lowered each bottle during the day 1/2 oz. But that might have happened after we started 1st Foods.

Right now at 6 months DS has 4tbsp of cereal 2x per day, 1 jar of fruit/veggie a day, and his forumla is about 30-35oz per day.

DS is still on the same formula amounts, but he hasn't been eating solids so long, and the amounts he eats are still pretty small.

He generally does not eat more than he needs, so I'm assuming he just won't want to eat when he doesn't need as much formula.

When I first started giving my DS cereal I did not decrease his formula intake. As he started eating more he slowly started drinking less.
