When you go to Marshall's or TJ Maxx,

what do you usually shop for?

I post this here b/c it has the potential to go to several possible boards.

I love to shop at Marshalls and TJ Maxx. I usually go looking for shoes and walk out with towels. I find that I can never go for a specific item because they won't have it. With that being said, I have probably bought an item in every department. I like to go with an open mind and wallet.

My mom and I found some dresses at Marshalls once.

There's one walking distance from my home and I've only been in there once because it was a nightmare - NO kind of order to anything. I don't mind searching, but this was ridiculous. Maybe I should give it another try; lots of people seem to find great deals there.

The Marshall's near me has Homegoods also so I go there for the great home stuff!! I like their rugs, mirrors, accents, lamps, paintings, etc.

The Marshall's part is pretty good -- when my mom is with me she will shop for good designer stuff (I usually don't have the patience). If I do look for anything it is shoes because they are easier to look through -- great designer stuff for less! They have great baby stuff - clothes and such for awesome prices!! I also bought every single tie DH owns from there -- ALL sorts of nice designers and ALL real cheap! He gets compliments on them all the time at work, lol!

TJ Maxx is the same thing -- shoes for me unless mom is with me and then she will hunt for good stuff. She found me an Ed Hardy tank top for $19.99 there once! woo hoo!

I never had luck there- I prefer Century 21

I do very well there- I will buy anything I see that is a good price

last week- I got a yoga ball and DVD for $15

shirts shoes coats purses underwear cosmetics slippers house hold decor bedding rugs
i shop for any good deal.
i hit homegoods at least once a week, sometimes more.

im one of those people that wont shop at the mall unless i have some sort of coupon. at homegoods or marshalls, you know you are getting a good deal.

i even got a pair of joes jeans there once for 80

Everything! I have found so many great things at Marshalls. Alot of my Christmas decorations came from there this year as well.

I love the Home Goods part too...

At TJ Maxx I always look for handbags...sometimes you can get a decent bag for a good price...

Every now and then I will get a sweater or something...

Mostly I like those stores for the home items.

I pretty much only shop there for seasonal-decorative items.

Sometimes I'll buy my DC clothing there, but I haven't really found anything in quite some time.

pants, tops, sweaters, jewelry (at TJ Maxx), bedding/pillows, towels. I have also had a lot of luck there with gifts like wallets, bags, pj's, mens clothes.

DH and i were searching for lightweight waterproof jackets yesterday. DIC*KS had a sale but everything was still around $100-$200.
Then we went to Marshalls and i found a Columbia jacket, originaly $200 and i got it for..........$20.00!!!! We couldn't believe it!

clothes, usually.... their stuff is a steal. also, they have cute baby clothes too!

sometimes for home things like candles or accents like rugs or vases, etc. marshall's or tj maxx is cheaper than home goods, IMO.

I think it also depends on the area.
At the TJs on Glen Cove Rd & Northern Blvd. they have special section for hi end apparel & jeans...not just Sevens, but Joes, Hudson, James and more.
The Marshalls is not as good as it used to be. You have to be patient and search.
I buy what I like - it's not going to be there the next time I go!

Love the home stuff too!

I was just at TJ Maxx today and bought a bra for 5 dollars and luggage that was on sale...I love both stores!

I like Honegoods the best of the three stores and fins seasonal items, gift bags, statationary, towels, candles frames soaps.

If I'm in marshalls or TJ's I look for all that plus shoes, lingerie (sometimes they have nice brands!) and things for I might also check out bathing suits.

I never find anything there and I can't deal with picking through rack after rack of disorganized items...
