When will the startle reflex stop waking my son?!

My DS will only sleep if he is tightly swaddled...otherwise his arms and legs flail all around and he wakes up immediately. However he is 4 months now and lately I notice he is sliding around in his crib and trying to roll over. I am petrified he will end up on his stomach or against the bumper with no way to push himself away since his arms are trapped, so I realize the swaddling has to stop. However, does this mean he will never sleep again?!

Asher is 4 months old and last week I noticed I could put him to sleep in his co-sleeper and he didn't wake-up with the startling, so I tried him at night without swaddling and he slept fine. Maybe try not swaddling for a nap and see how it goes.

we had a problem kind of similar. Their arms are not tucked in, but they were moving around way too much. So I bought these guards they prevent them from rolling into the bumper. BBB and BRU has them.
