When to turn carseat?
What is the appropriate height/weight to turn the carseat to front facing?

The longer RF'ing, the better! Every step UP in a carseat(RF--->FF--->High back booster---> no back booster--->adult seat belt) is a huge step DOWN in safety. The new recommendation is age 2.
My DS just turned 2 and won't be switching anytime soon.

Same here! My twins turned 2 in December and are still rear facing. I don't plan on changing them anytime soon.

Ds was just over 2 and the only reason i switched him is because DD2 was on her way and we moved ds from behind the passenger seat to behind the drivers seat and couldnt keep the seat rf because there wouldn't be enough room for me to drive. If i could have kept him RF I would have.

My DD was complaining because her legs were squished in the rear facing position... So we switched her front facing before 2.

DS began to cry whenever we put him into the carseat because his legs were squished and he was uncomfortable. He is tall for his age. We switched him at 20 months.

My DD was around 1.5 , she was very tall for her age and very uncomfortable, she actually used to get bruises on her feet so we turned her. This was 4yrs ago.
One mom I know she just turned her DS at 8 months, she posted a pic on FB, I asked how come she did it so early and she said " he is already 25+ lbs!"

My ped said until AT least 2.
Or if they hit the weight limit for rear facing on your particular seat.
Whichever comes first.
Check your owners manual on the seat for the rear facing weight limit.
As long as you haven't hit that- rear face as long as possible- but at LEAST until 2

My twins are 17 months & we just switched them. One of my twins wears orthotic braces & His feet didnt fit with the braces so had to switch.

The recommendation is at least 2 years of age. That said, the longer they are RFing, the safer they are. Every seat has its own RFing height and weight maximums. You should check those for your specific seat. My DD is just shy of 21 months, 90th percentile for height, and still RFing. I don't plan on turning her when she turns two. Our carseat has a long ways to go until she has to turn.
