When to start prenatal vitamins?
Sort of crashing, because I'm not TTC yet, but hoping to be around the end of the year.
My mom said she read that it's best to start taking prenatals a year before conceiving. I'm going to the ob/gyn for a check up next month. If I ask about this are they going to laugh at me and say it's way too soon to be thinking about this?

technically you should be taking them during all of your child bearing years... even when not TTC... but 3 months in advance is what ive been told.

its never to early to start! My ob said i can start whenever i want so i started 3 months prior to ttc (bc i ran out of my multi vitamin).

Like the other ladies said, its never too early to start. It wont hurt you if you start early, it is just a vitamin. I have heard that you should def. at least start 3mths prior to TTC though

i don't know exactly why we should take them prior to TTC, but i just take the OTC ones from GNC

It can't hurt you to start earlier, but they are expensive! It's recommended you start them 3 months before TTC to let everything build up in your body.

It is suggested to start before actually TTC because the folic acid helps with the early development of the embryo. It helps with that period when you may not know that you are pregnant yet and are not risking anything in that early development period.
