When is your DC ready for their first pair of walking shoes?
How do you know that they are ready for shoes?
DS is walking really well with his push walker but not that great when holding our hands. Will shoes help better keep his ankles straight?

Re: When is your DC ready for their first pair of walking shoes?
they say best way to learn is no shoes at all. When DS started cruising everywhere I got him Robeez b/c they're soft, but more sturdy than regular shoes. Took a day or so for him to get used to them. Then when he was walking well on his own we got him measured and got him a pair of Striderite shoes

When they are walking! Just kidding!! I actually got my DD her first pair of walking shoes from Stride Rite when she was completely walking on her own (no walkers or holding on to anything) at 15 months. Before that I just kept her barefoot.

We put shoes on her at about 10-11 months. she was running by 11 months. Also it was the summer so it was alot of sandals and everything had to have a soft flexible sole.

Re: When is your DC ready for their first pair of walking shoes?
DS wore Stride Rite Stage 1 - Prewalkers until he was a confident walker. Now he wears Step 3 off and running.
I tried walking shoes earlier, when he first started to walk, and he HATED them because he couldn't figure out how to walk. He'd cry and cry. It took about a month of walking for him to be comfortable wearing them.

DS is only cruising now, but I plan to keep shoes off him as much as possible.
I did get him some soft sole shoes, just for protection when we are outside the house.
I love See Kai Run brand.

Same here. We did not get DS "real" shoes until he was fully walking on his own at 14 months.
