when do you all plan on finding a pediatrician?
I'm due in May but someone brought to my attention over the weekend that I really should be looking into it now. When are you planning on choosing a ped?

Do you have friends or family that have kids?
We use the same ped., my sister, cousin and my friend use and couldn't be hapier.

yes but my sis is in nassau and I'm in suffolk. My suffolk friends are about 30 min away so I really wanna find someone closer....kwim?

makes sense. can you ask them to have their ped's make reccomendations for you?

i am going to probably use the one my neighbor brings her kids to. she always raved about them.
i will get the info when it comes a little bit closer.

i just moved to suffolk, and i'm delievering at winthrop though so i needed to find a ped out here, dr.james cavanough came highly reccommened, i met him last week love him!

I did a search for providers on my insurance website. Three came up within five miles.
I didn't want a practice with just one doctor, so that one was out. The other one was where I used to go to the GYN and I was NOT happy with it there - the wait was 2-3 hours!
So that leaves one more, I know myself and I probably won't go check it out LOL but they visit LIJ so I am going to give them a shot!

Oyster Bay Pediatrics- Dr. Greg is AMAZING! I will be using them even though we live in Bayside.

my childhood ped is not too far and 2 of the same docs are still there  we might consider that practice.
i think recommendations from friends/family is the best place to start

There's really no set time... I think it all depends on you and your schedule. I went around 25 weeks and feel in love with mine. Just got 2 pages of paper work to fill out and we're set.
