When did your DC start to feed themselves with utensils?
DD looves to hold the spoon and put it in her mouth but has yet to master putting food on it...If I do put food on it...it'll go all over herself and then her mouth She's 13 months

This is a skill my DS (15 months)has not yet mastered although we do allow him to hold the spoon or fork if he asks to. I know he tries but makes such a mess. I am not pushing it though...to me it's more important that he gets food in his mouth rather than how he gets it in there. If he's 5 and still using his hands, then I might change my mind.

ITA, that was my concern, I'd rather her be eating than mastering the skill... I was just curious as to when most kids do start mastering..she's been asking to hold the spoon or fork a lot lately, but I'm still feeding her since she's getting barely anything in her mouth

At 14 mos my  was stabbing the food with a fork and feeding himself.
