When did you tell your boss?

I am 9 weeks... I know it is still early. I work in Finance in a middle- management position and we tend to work heavy hours. With the exhaustion from the pregnancy, its been hard to put in the later hours. I have a great relationship with my boss, and feel that if heaven forbid something went wrong at this point, I would probably tell him anyway as I would need some time off to mentally and physically recover. Also, I am excited, like him on a personal level and think he would be happy for me.

Is it ok to tell my boss st 9 weeks? When did you tell? Thanks!!

First time around, I told my boss around 16 weeks. This time, I told him around 13 weeks.

If you are comfortable telling him, I would go for it. Personally, I like to wait for at least the 12 week mark.

I told my boss right away for almost the same exact reasons you mentioned. We we're not close or anything but she knows a lot of my personal stuff and I did not want her to find out thru the grapevine so I made sure she was the first to know. If, God forbid something bad happens, everyone is going to know bc I wear my emotions.

I told the boss about 14 weeks because I was outed by a co worker with very little tact

I made an offical announcement at 15 weeks - and it turned out that a lot of people had a feeling anyway (in spite of the "outing") because I looked pregnant.

first pregnancy 12 weeks with this baby 20 weeks.

First baby I told him at 13 weeks. This time I will probably do the same although I've already told a few coworkers. I would wait til 12 week mark personally.

First pregnancy I told at 12 weeks. I was showing by then and had my NT scan.

This pregnancy I told right about 11 weeks. I had to leave early to take my son to the doctor AND to go to one of my prenatal appointments and I told one boss so they didn't think I was just cutting out early instead of rescheduling one appointment. I have 5 bosses though, and haven't told any of the others yet.

Of course it's ok! Tell your boss whenever you are comfortable- it's such a personal decision. For me, with both pregnancies, as soon as we saw the heartbeat (around 6/7 weeks), we told our family, then friends, and then work, all over the course of a few days or a week. So, to answer your question, I told my boss around 7 weeks both times. I work in a preschool, and our staff is very family-oriented. I knew she would be happy for me, and supportive, and I was perfectly comfortable with her (and my co-workers) knowing. My OB explained to me that once you see the heartbeat, the miscarriage rate drops to 3%, which is as low as it gets for the whole pregnancy. So for me, I saw no reason to wait beyond that, and my husband agreed.

Def OK to tell. You should tell when you're comfortable. I told my immediate supervisor when I was 7 weeks because I was going to a lot of MD appts from the FET so I wanted her to know what was going on. I was just very clear that I didn't want anyone else to know yet and she kept the secret.

First pregnancy (which ended in a MC) I told my boss right away, as soon as I got my BFP only because of the type of work I do. This time around I waited until 10 weeks.

I didn't have morning sickness or anything...I told my boss at about 12 or 13 weeks.

i told my boss right away. I had been going through ferility and IVF so I have been notably late for work many times.

When I got pregnant, the lateness or Dr appts continued, especially so since I am carrying 2. I wanted him to know what was going on with me and also to give him relief that I was not looking for a new job.

In addition, there is always a chance with 2 that bedrest might happen, so I thought it would be right to get everything prepared and to have a backup plan in the event of my sudden departure.

I came out to the world after my CVS results were good. Which was yesterday. Once I told a few coworkers, news spread like wildfire! BUt its all good and the positive/supportive energy from my coworkers has been great!

I told my director straight away and it helps that she is pregnant too, I waited til about 9 weeks for my supervisor
