when did you stop putting your NB in mittens?
i am so afraid she'll scratch her eyes out!  but she is growing out of the gerber onesies that have the mitten cuffs.

I never really did the mittens b/c she constantly pushed them off. I just made sure her nails were filed smooth.

I stopped around 2 months....the bigger they get the easier it is to cut their nails so that they don't scratch themselves

I never really put them on. the ,ittens were too big for them and kept falling off. their eyes are still intact.

At 1.5 weeks old, Jake HATES having his hands covered. He screams when I put the cuffs over them. He likes to be able to put them in his mouth. A parenting class I took said that it is good to leave their hands uncovered because it helps their development.
Jake loves to have his nails filed too (I totally have a "metro" baby  ) so you should try to file Sasha's if you are worried!

i never did. i tried once and he hated it. 8.5 months later and his eyes and face are fine

Around 3 weeks. She didn't mind having her hands covered, but we felt that she should be able to feel around and touch things (not that she's touching much at 3 weeks!) I was worried about her scratching herself, but she hasn't (so far)

I never did. I used a baby nail file on him (while DH fed him) to keep his nails smooth.

I don't remember exactly, but she wore them for a while. Once she grew out of the mittens, I just put socks on her hands.

We sometimes still use them and DD is 3 months   I like to use them if it's cold that night, or if I haven't gotten the opportunity to trim her nails (I can only do them when she's sleeping).
She's long since outgrown the Gerber mittens, but she has 2 pairs of miniwear ones that are much bigger.

we used them for over 2 mo It was for scratching AND to keep his hands warm.
finally I got the nerve to file his nails regularly.... he scratches himself still (sometimes even right after a filing  ) but there's nothing we can do to prevent it beyond filing!
