when did you stop feeding baby oatmeal

How long did you feed your DCs the baby cereal?

Trying to figure out if I should buy it in bulk or not - i generally buy it from amazon which means i get 6 large containers of it (enough for at least 4-5 months) but I'm not sure if DS (10 months old) will need it for that long.

2 weeks or so... he hated it and I felt it was empty calories so we moved right to veggies

ah, DS likes it (usually) but i just wasn't sure if i should switch from cereal to fruit and/or real food for breakfast soon.

We started w it at 4 months and around 8 months or so, we used it less. I gave him more fruit and veggies and even the mix turkey or chicken dinners.

DD was eating it on occassion for breakfast up until almost 2 years old.
It's actually a good source of iron and she was such a poor eater.

DD started refusing it around 8-9 months. She used to like it too. I am not sure if I'd buy bulk of any food right now- her tastes seem to always be changing!

thanks for the tips, everyone ... going to forego the bulk purchase and just get one box at a time. Easier to store anyhow

I stopped around 6-7 months. She loved oatmeal but she preferred real oatmeal once she started table foods at 6 months.

My DS just turned 3 and will still eat Gerber oatmeal on occasion! He loves it with fruit mixed in.

3 years and still eats it.

We do mixed grain. It has much less sugar and a better consistency for DS than adult oatmeals! Lots of iron too!

Probably a little after a year. The baby stuff is so fortified with vitamins and iron that it's def. not a waste to give it to them - better than a waffle or pancake for sure! As she got older I mixed it with smushed berries or banana and cinnamon to give texture.
I gave it much less often as she started table foods, but I still mixed it as an iron/vitamin source.

At a year. It's good to keep it in the house though (or rice cereal) for if they have a stomach bug over the next months after that and need something super gentle.

Around 14 months but ds was a late solid food eater

I actually just stopped it recently..DS was about 15 months. He just started refusing it.

Glad Im not the only one! DD is 21 months and I still give her baby oatmeal/mixed grains. Its just so much easier to make than real rolled oats and it is fortified so I know its good for her!

18 months now and still eating a bowl of earths best every morning but he's starting to not like it....
