When did you stop baby food?
Sydnie gets a lot of table food but sometimes I find it easier to give her some baby food too.
When did you stop baby food all together?

Re: When did you stop baby food?
Some may think I am crazy, but DS is 23 months and I sitll give him pureed fruits. He refuses to eat fruit unless it is pureed, so I see nothing wrong in still letting him have it. But we have stopped other types of baby food... just still break out the fruits!

Re: When did you stop baby food?
We stopped around 11 months. I noticed I was relying on it for more convenience then anything else.

Re: When did you stop baby food?
Abby is still on baby food at 11 months but not for my lack of trying. She is gagging on chunky food so we have to go very slowly. She is just barely starting to eat things with a more distinct texture and hopefully we are on a good track.
Interesting thing I just learned from colleagues at work (who are SLPs practicing feeding therapy). They said that stage 3 foods are too confusing because of the mixture of textures which leads them to choke so it's actually better to separate them giving the purees by themselves and the chunks (of whatever you give them) also by themselves. It made a heck of a lot of sense to me - especially for my child. Just thought I'd share.

I got out of that rut within a week or two. Then we were done with baby food forever!!
I am in the process of looking for some new snacks for Ryan, so should you happen to come across any, keep me in mind.

I know you've had some trouble. Some kids need to go super slow. I was PIMP when you said you had to hold her nose!
I totally agree with the Stage 3 food!!! Sydnie hates them! She only gets stage 2. And she does much better when she eats one thing at a time, especially when they are different sizes/shapes/textures.

ds basically stopped himself around 10 1/2 months i think. He wanted nothing to do with baby food and wanted only things he could feed himself.

Re: When did you stop baby food?
I still give AJ (21 months) some jarred fruits. I use it more as a flavoring to bland foods. Like if I make him oatmeal, I use the plain no sugar added one and dump in a jar of fruit for taste. I will also spread jar fruit on pancakes/waffles if I dont have fresh fruit instead of using syrup. He eats everything and anything so I dont think I am doing any harm by still giving it to him.

DS is almost 10 months and he wants nothing to do with babyfood. Once my last two jars are left, I am not buying anymore.

We stopped right when DD turned 2. LOTS of people said I was nuts, but she would NOT eat any fresh fruits or veggies and I still wanted her to get the nutrition and taste for them.
Now, 1.5 months later, it's still a BIG struggle to get her to eat real fruits/veggies, but we're working on it.
ITA about the Stage 3's, I don't blame kids for gagging on them, it's confusing--liquid and chunks together.

This is pretty much the way it happened in my house. I did however buy some stage 3 fruits, but that's about it. He hates all the dinner type stuff. He'd rather eat what we are eating.

i think they are right about the stage three foods being confusing... ds who is 10 months old can finish a chicken fingure meal at applebees with out a single gag but cant eat the stage 3 meals without choking

DD is 13 months old and shes still mostly on babyfood everytime i try to give her the step up, like those gerber toddler meals, she stores the food in her cheecks like a hampster the only thing i can get her to swollow are scrambled eggs with cheese.

Re: When did you stop baby food?
Frankie will be 10 months on the 24th and he mainly eats what ever they serve at daycare and at home. On a rare occasion, I can get him to eat the jarred mixed fruits. He's at the point now where he only wants to feed himself with his hands. So baby food is pretty much out at this point.
