When did you DC say mama?

DD is almost 11 months and I'm still dada. When I or someone else says mama or mommy she looks at me, but she still calls me (and everyone else dada!) Actually it is the only word she says other than babble. Is that normal at this age?

No baba either.

Re: When did you DC say mama?

sounds pretty normal to me.

Only in the last month did DS start making the distinction. But he said mama firstChat Icon Everyone was mama. Then for about a week, everyone was dada. Now, he makes a clear distincting and even says "oma" for my grandma and "ama" when he means my mom, his grandma. But he makes the same sound for Emma. So I guess my mom and the dog have the same nameChat Icon

Re: When did you DC say mama?

My 11 month old DS doesn't refer to us as anything. He says mama and dada but I dont think he knows that is who we are, he is just babbling. He doesn't say any other words yet. I am not going to worry about it for another month and then I will ask my doctor.

She says Mama during babbling but not directly to me. DH got Dada directly at him a few times.

Re: When did you DC say mama?

She says it, and I think she knows its me but she doesn't crawl around looking for me saying it like she does Dada, Daddy. I say where is Dada and she looks at him or for him and when DH says where is Mama, she is like, who cares.

Re: When did you DC say mama?

Kara just started saying mama about 2 weeks ago. She is 8 months. I think she knows what it means because she looks at me, but what the heck to I know.

I wouldn't worry too much she might just be taking her own sweet time. I know a little girl who is 18 months and refuses to say mama. Will say other things like dada, plane etc. How frustrating would that be?

I could have written this myself, and Niko is one..

he says DA DA DA DA DA ALLL day long and I do think that he associates it sometimes with my husband, but other times its just jibberish..

Ma ma .. again , sometimes I am sure he associates it with ME but other time (ESP. when he's upset) the MAMAMAMAMAAAA stuff is just jibberish..

Re: When did you DC say mama?

DD is 11 months old and just started about 3 weeks ago REALLY saying it- not just in passing and during a babble- just keep talking to DC and referring to yourself as mama- it will happen.
