when did DC stop napping?

DD is not even 2 (well, 23 months) & I'm considering letting her stay up because i'm sick of fighting twice a day. At least bedtime is only one battle.
She's always been a bad sleeper from day 1, some of you know because it's all I complain about on here.
I've tried everything including working with a sleep coach.
Bed time is a little better but still a bit of a fight.
But it's nap time that drives me to insanity.
I used to drive her around but for the past month I've been putting her in her crib to teach her to sleep on her own & it's torture on both of us.
So I was wondering at what age did DC give up their nap?
And what would you do? Should I just give up on a nap?
I know it's my decision but I just don't know what to do, I'm so back & forth on it.

I have twins that are 20M & majority of the time one of them wont nap & the other sleeps 3 hours...what can I do? They do go right in crib when bedtime. We did the CIO method at 8 months.

Have you tried just one nap? DS dropped to one nap right around 2 years old and still goes down 99% of the time for at least 40 minutes or so (he'll be 3 in October.

I would definitely try one nap before giving them up totally.

DD stopped napping around that age. She wouldn't really fiight me to nap but it was keeping her up past 10pm. Once I stopped napping her she would go to bed around 8pm. Then at around 3.5 it started again and has continued till now (she is 7) and although she is in bed by 9, up until 11 most nights. No nap to take away anymore!

I would definitely try 1 nap, DD dropped down to 1 nap/day somewhere right after she turned 1, maybe 14-15 months or something like that.

She naps around 1-1:30 and will nap for 2-3 hours. A lot of her friends nap around 11:30 for 2 hours or so, so that's another timeframe you can try.

I would just go with whatever time you see her getting most tired/cranky. Explain it is naptime and she should rest in her crib, and then just put her in there and leave her there for at least an hour or so, regardless of whether she is actually sleeping. She should eventually get the idea that it is at least quiet time and hopefully you will both get some rest.

Ds went from two to one nap by two... he still gets a nap after lunch at prek....4yo

I thnk her DD is only taking one nap - the 2 fights shes' talking about are naptime and bedtime. Maybe naptime needs to be at a different time?

DS is a horrible sleeper but, was always a good napper. We are giving up naps now at 3 1/2 becuase he goes to sleep so late and napping was such a fight (DH and I disagreed for awhile until he saw that he does ok without a nap).

Maybe try a day or two without a nap and see how she does - if it's horrible, put the nap back in.

My daughter will be four on Monday and still naps after lunch at school.
On the weekends, we want her to do the same but will let her skip if she really wants to even though she needs it (she wakes up at 6AM every day).

my ds stopped napping at 3 but if I see that he needs it on a particular day after tons of activities, I force him to take one - he's 3.5

he starts school in sept & I will probably force him to nap after school on the 3 days he will go.

How does she do if she doesnt nap for the day? Is she cranky or does she go to bed any easier? My DD is 23 months and doesnt nap at all but she gets a good 13-14 hours of sleep at night.

My DD started to drop her nap at around 3y 3m. By 3.5 years old she stopped napping completely.

My older DD stopped napping at about 26 months...she stayed sleeping the same 7-7.

My younger DD still occasionally naps for 2 hours at 4.5 and consistently napped until about 6 months ago...she sleeps the same regardless of the nap (7-7)...

I feel like some kids need the nap and some don't. If she does fine without it, I wouldn't fight it. Some things are out of our control.

DS 1 napped until 3.5. We stopped when he started to stay up too late. Now at 5, he sleeps from 8-7.

DS 2 stopped napping around 2.5. He seems to fine without naps. He sleeps from 8-7 too.

It depends on how cranky she is without a nap.

DS always fought naps. I remember walking him around the neighborhood during nap time, driving places during naptime. Anything to get him to nap.

He desparately needed his nap though bc he was a beast without it.

He gave it up at around 3.5/4.

If she is super cranky without one, I would keep trying.

DD is almost 3 and still naps but is fine without one. She gets cranky for an hour or so but then recovers and is fine for the rest of the day.

I don't fight her to nap bc she is fine either way.

Do whatever is best for your sanity and to get you through the day.

DD was slightly over 2, but the few months leading up to finally stopping it was a battle daily. Finally we gave up and now when she is tired she will go lay on the couch and usually falls asleep (probably happens 1-2 times a week).

I couldn't imagine cutting out naps, my 4 yo still naps for about 1 1/2 hrs. My 16 mo old takes a 2-3 hr nap. I would try switching to 1 before cutting them out. I would keep the afternoon one, go out do something fun, lunch and then nap. GL!!

What if you try dropping one?

Mine little one was 2 in May and still naps - my 4 year old fights it, but he stil can (and will) take a 3 hour nap -

but my kids also get up at 6:30 am and go to bed between 9/9:30 ......

DS stopped napping everyday at about 22 months..He would only nap if he was super tired or if we were in the car....

She does take only 1 nap a day
(When I said I didn't want to fight twice a day, I meant nap & bedtime,sorry I was unclear)
The past couple days she fell asleep in her crib but it's so sad because it took 2 hours
Shes not screaming crying the whole time but she cries "mommy open the door" I hate it!
Hopefully she'll learn to accept it but it's been almost a month & it's so hard!
