When can I give him
that vanilla custard jar food???
I saw it in the store the other day, and wanted to get it, but didnt know if it was early to try?
He LOVES the bananas...I think because of its yogurt like texture...(just like the custard) Can I pick it up....or should I wait...
He is 4.5 months. TIA

Re: When can I give him
Michael never had it - I actually bought 2-3 jars a few months ago and opened it and tried it myself - it was disgusting IMO, so Michael never even got a chance to taste it.

Re: When can I give him
being that he's so young, you're better off sticking with single ingredient foods

I agree. And I think custard has milk in it - which is something your little one's belly may not be ready for.

Re: When can I give him
I agree to wait but also keep in mind those desserts have TONS of sugar in them. I felt like sine it was Gerber it must be good but it really is just junk food.

I was vey big on reading labels and feel the same. My son is 1 year and I still haven't given him a dessert...although I did buy the custard and peach cobbler recently to try here and there.

I'd also wait 'til he's a little older and has tried all the single ingredient foods if you really want to give it to him. But the above poster is correct, all those jars labeled "dessert" and anything other than fruit just has unnecessary sugar in it. Aidan never had any of those desserts, why would I when he LOVES his fruit. And now he has a "real" fruit with every meal! Pineapple, cantaloupe, all types of berries... you name it! They are his dessert

Same here-Jenna never had any of the "desserts" but LOVES fruit. I f not much fruit is in season i'll buy the little Gerber jars if diced peaches, pears, etc-.
