When are your kiddies starting school...
My DD is starting (kindergarten) a week from today!!  August 29th
But I feel like EVERYONE I talk to whether in LI , Queens, NJ, and upstate NY say they start after labor day! 
And the worst part is I received NOTHING from the schools..not a supply list, not a start and end time,not a bus pick up location and time...I feel so unprepared..hopefully there are still supplies when I am forced to go he day before she starts...

DD is starting preschool on 9/6 and they follow the NYC public school calendar from what I understand.

Northeast usually starts soemtime the week after Labor Day.
If you are down south, midwest, texas etc. they all start before Labor Day and some have started already

nope..i am in Mid-Nassau...how are we the only ones on LI starting before Labor Day?!?!

AJ's preschool officially began August 13th
The district begins Monday August 27th
We always start early here. Cut off for age is Sept 1st

DS' nursery school/preschool starts Sept 11th. It's private though. I believe it starts approx 1 week after the district.

Kindergarten starts 9/7 (yes, on a friday ). DS starts Kindergarten.

DD starts K on 9/4. Her friend is starting this monday (8/27) wonder if you are in his district.
DD#2 is starting her 3 yr program 9/11.

My son doesn't go to a district but he starts 9/10. I teach in a district and my students start 9/5. There is a lot of difference in start dates because of how long christmas break is, and where the jewish holidays fall. A lot of districts will have different calendars this year. For example, for february break this year, I believe my district has thurs, fri and monday off. My mother's district has all week off.
