Re: What's your trick to save $$ each month?
We're trying to live basically on DH's salary while we pay of CC's. After that my salary will go straight to savings.
I try to bring my lunch to work if I can, DH comes home for lunch. We don't eat out or do take out very often (once a week would be a lot).
I am also not a spender. I can go weeks without buying clothes or even going to the store. We try to shop at BJ's for groceries and then once a week or so go to the grocery store for only a few items.
Oh and I am super frugal so I love getting deals-that saves us a lot!!!

I have x amount go into my 401k and x amount go into my IRA with every paycheck.
I try and bring my lunch to work as much as possible.
Any change I get...straight to the jar..and then straight to savings.

Can I ask how you do that when everything goes up? All my bills go up in January and I don't get a raise until March. I barely get anything out of my raise once I pay for the increases for cable, daycare, medical, taxes, etc.

i transfer X amount weekly into my ING direct account
also sometimes i find myself ready to "checkout" online with $100+ purchases, and i'll cancel the order and put that money into savings as i would have spent it on crap anyway
Wow, thats willpower. That is something I MUST need to do. Delete my entire Wishlist and Checkout.
it works!!

Re: What's your trick to save $$ each month?
We have a portion of our paycheck automatically deposited into a savings account....this is done through our places of employment. Whenever we get a raise we apply more to that account and/or more to our 401K.

Coin jar
Only visit the ATM once a week and take a set amount of cash out for the week.
Drive very fuel efficient cars, check tire pressure regularly to keep gas mileage up.
Bought energy star appliances and applied for LIPA rebates.
Limit eating out/cook a lot and prep meals a head of time for busy days/late nights at work. Try to eat lunch out on weekends vs. dinner, much cheaper.
Bring lunch every day to work
programmable thermostat to save on heat
Reinsulated many rooms of the house, we have a few more to go.
stay out of the mall
only buy clothes on sale
my paycheck gets auto deposited into savings
pay all credit cards in full every month
coupons, coupons, rebates, rebates
all credit cards have cash back or some other bonus we use
only buy storable pantry items, paper items, cleaning supplies on sale and stock up
paid for all work done on our house (contractors) in cash for a lower price and try to schedule for work to be done during their slow season... this has saved us thousands
Pay in cash for as many big ticket items as we can. Negotiate best price for cash.
Library and limit Amazon purchases of books
Movies... matinees or wait until they are DVD, cable.
Limit magazine, newspaper subscriptions... never had time to read all of them cover to cover anyway.
We pay extra principle towards our mortgage every month. We have a 30 year but pay the extra principle required to pay it off in 15 years thus saving us thousands over the life of the loan.
Max out 401K's as much as possible.
DH gets a rebate on his gym membership 80% from his health insurance company.
No cleaning lady/no landscaper (for a 1/2 acre). Cheaper and good exercise.
We do pay to get our taxes done as it saves us more money in the long run.
ETA: While so many people are addcited to spending, even as a teenager I was addicted to saving
