Re: what's your Christmas budget?

Last year we were around $500 each for a 4yo and 6yo. As they get older gifts get more $$.

I'm totally at a loss for what to give for this year....

Re: what's your Christmas budget?

I feel like it keeps getting harder to keep it under control. My kids are getting bigger, the gifts get bigger and cost more. Last year they each got an iPad which cost a fortune and that didn't seem like nearly enough so it was out of control! This year they are each getting surfboards and bikes as their big gifts. I want to budget but it keeps getting harder!

We only have one so usually in the $500 range. This will include clothes too, not just toys.

I probably spent around $100 last year. I'm guessing it will be around the same this year.

what's your Christmas budget?

I think it really depends on the age of the child. When DD was under 5 we spent about $150 and that came out to alot of toys. Now DD is 8 and we spend alot more. An American Girl doll alone is $125 and last year she got an Ipad. My nephew got a Playstation last year and that is like $400 just for that. So we really don't have a budget. We buy one big ticket item and then smaller stuff to fill in.

Re: what's your Christmas budget?

I try not to spoil our kids and stick to about $150 per child. We can afford more but we think that is enough. They also get gifts from grandparents, uncles and friends.

Re: what's your Christmas budget?

My kids are older= their wish lists are expensive.
Last year the each got an iPad mini as their big gift from DH and I. And then older DS got an electric scooter and younger DS got a bike as their big gifts from Santa. And easily another $200-300 each of other gifts. Chat Icon the problem is me though, but them. I just can't help myself.

I have a 19 month old and last year we did the want, wear, need & read plus a letter from santa adding him to his list...this yr will be the same plus a gift from santa.

I think we are going to set it that Santa has a budget since he needs to bring toys to all the kids around the world.

He gets toys all the time so I dont think there is a real need to go super crazy at christmas.

We try to stick to $150 but sometimes it goes to $300 for only one child.... when she was little you could get a lot of toys for very little. now the toys are a lot more money. And its not just toys, we also try to put in some things she actually needs, like a pillow this year. lol.

Re: what's your Christmas budget?

Definitely way under $100 per child, but they are both really young so aren't getting anything expensive from us. I found lots of cute little things I know they'll like & will wrap, especially for my older ds to get to unwrap which I think he might enjoy more than the actual stuff itself. The grandparents get them expensive stuff, especially my IL's will go nuts I'm sure, so we don't have to go too crazy.

YES to everything.

My older son's and my husband both have birthdays a week before Christmas. So basically I just do alot of shopping and try to move things on to each "list" to fit a budget I feel is reasonable.

I think I spend 200 on birthdays generally (but last year DS did get xbox so that was well over ) and then for christmas I budget 300 but always go over. I feel if I keep it NEAR 300 I am successful! LOL

My LO will only be 8 months, so I don't really need to go crazy.

I don't ever plan on going crazy for Christmas though. I just don't want to place too much emphasis on gifts over the true meaning. This is how I was raised. My parents spread out the "must have" gifts throughout the year and Christmas was pretty modest. We never really wanted for anything.

I don't buy for my kids. They are young enough that they don't understand who buys what and they get more than enough from our extended families! When we do have to start buying I will prob spend $50-100 per kid, but that number will grow with the kids!

DDs will be 4 and 20 months this Christmas. They have a ton of toys and such. So for older DD I get a couple of medium sized gifts and stocking stuffers (under 100 dollars for sure) for younger DD I get a couple of small things to open (under 25) and stocking stuffers and then put about $$$ (whatever we can afford but about 200 each ) in each of their accounts .

We've never done a budget for the kids. I do make sure they have an equal number of packages to open and try to balance out expensive and cheaper gifts for both of them though. I will take away gifts that I intended to give them if it seems like it's getting to be too much. I don't want Christmas to be a big gift fest, we focus more on the religious aspect.
