My son broke this beautiful glass bowl that I had from when I first got married. I loved that bowl. He was in his high chair and pulled on my kitchen table cloth and the bowl fell and shattered. Thank goodness my son was ok but I was sad about the bowl. Oh and my kitchen tile cracked too because of the bowl that fell. So he did double damage lol

My 3 year old decided she wanted to bathe with her iPad. It may have even been younger all I remember is her saying she wanted to see the octonauts underwater.

DH bought DS a tablet for Christmas (to be clear DH bought it for himself too). I said it was a bad idea. I asked him if he was going to get a case for it. About a week later DS was walking up to my inlaws house with his new tablet in hand and threw it. No reason, just chucked it across the porch.

Re: What's the most expensive damage your child has done?
We had recently gotten a new side table for our living room. It wasn't crazy expensive but it was over $200. I went to dust it one day a few months back and notice the finish on one side of the top was all faded and destroyed and scratched up and there were faded pink stains! Turns out DD had gotten NAIL POLISH on it and tried to clean it off with nail polish REMOVER and destroyed the finish in that one section. It was only a few months old too. I was SOOOOOO angry

Not damage, but my son ordered purchased $1,000 worth of movies, apps, bales of hay, game coins, bullcrap stuff from his tablet several years ago. I was SO MAD. Dad's fault for putting his credit card on there and not password protecting it, or removing it when he had bought something!

You can also make a spin off to this thread to what damage your PETS has caused to your home. Because I can write a book about that too. An expensive book! My carpets are basically destroyed!

What's the most expensive damage your child has done?
When he was a toddler I used to joke with DH that I’m running a tab and DS can pay me back when he gets a job. Some damage that sticks out: He has broken my storage room door twice, multiple remote controls (throws them/banging them), he smashed a remote on a light switch and an electrician had to come and change it out, We got a media table for under our tv and the delivery guys were pulling out my driveway when DS tried to open it and he did it with so much force that the door broke! That piece was over 1000$ I went nuts!

OMG right?! My cat scratches everything! I just threw out an area rug, an ottoman and 2 chairs because they looked like crap from her scratching them over the years. Of course I bought all new stuff, but now I've put packing tape on all the corners so she doesn't scratch it. I just have to take it off when people come over, we'll see how long that lasts

We don't have nice things for a reason. The ones that stick out would be chewing my laptop and phone cords until they were unusable, covering my microfiber couch in water stains, drawing on the back of my headrest in my car, buying a season of Nip tuck on Amazon. Nothing expensive but the holiday decorations and Christmas ornaments are starting to add up.

Oh yes, like the time my dog went diarrhea all over dd's room when I was just days before giving birth again, and dd tracked it alllllll over the house because she didn't know, so we had to hire emergency carpet cleaners to come asap because dh was at work and I couldn't crawl around cleaning it all without going in to labor it was terrible at the time, but at least now I can look back at it and laugh.

Not my child, but I was in my child's classroom, when another kid made huge scratch marks across a three foot section of the whiteboard. Those things are thousands of dollars.

Ava hasn't done any real damage... yet... though the wear and tear on stuff... yeesh! She's not gentle.
My dogs on the other hand... ugh! They kill me. In fairness, I've had them for longer- 11/12 years now. My pit once broke a light fixture on the first floor... from the second floor. They've destroyed like 4 couches... chewed cabinet doors, remotes, a $200 rebate check- that was fun to call and explain! The lady on the other line laughed so hard- I told her the check was "destroyed" and she asked destroyed how? My dog ate it. At least I made her day and got a replacement.

My daughter ordered a tv from Amazon asking Alexa to launch our tv in our living room. Luckily she came and told me and I was able to cancel the $1,700 tv before it shipped.

That is smart! But, my cat is only 5...so I'm not sure I could wait that long I do need to clip her nails...I've never done that, but it's my mission this week

I guess this is sort of indirect but while we were toilet training dd1, it cost us $1100 in plumbing repairs to learn that flushable wipes are not indeed flushable.

We said the same with the carpets. One cat passed last summer and we have one left. Not getting new carpeting which we desperately need until cat #2 passes..

Omg, I did the exact same thing to my mother's bedroom furniture. Funny (but not really) how kid logic works.

Re: What's the most expensive damage your child has done?
Luckily neither of my kids have done anything too cost us too much yet.
But I have a story from when I was a kid. When I was about 7 my parents paid someone to come and lay brand new tile in the bathroom. It looked so beautiful I couldnt help myself from going in after the contractor left and dance on it like Cinderella in a ballroom. About an hour later my dad comes STORMING out of the house to find me in the backyard. I cost them $1200...the contractor had to come back and attempt the best he could to reset the tile because I shifted it all while I was dancing and it hadn't dried yet My parents STILL bring it up to this day. A few years ago my DH and I remodeled our 2 bathrooms and he refused to allow me anywhere near them on tile day
