my friend is a sono tech and she said the best time is at the 20wk sono. they can see it earlier but everything is external so even if they see a penis it might actually be a girl.. so it is better to wait for the 20 wk

The doctor took an "educated" guess at the 12 week ultrascreen and he was right. But I don't think most like to confirm anything until 20 weeks

At 18 weeks my tech had no problem telling my with certainty that it's a girl.
