What's going on?
I don't understand. We are too young to be facing this kind of tragedy, devastation and sadness in our lives, and yet, it seems to be such an overwhelming presence these days, not just on the boards, but with people I know, my family, my friends, even myself. Is it because we are getting older? Are we more attuned to it now than we were before?
Whatever it is, for everyone going through their own personal struggle right now, especially for the people who make it publicly known on this website, I hope in some small way it helps to know that your story doesn't go unheard and unimpacted. Everyone's personal story makes such a deep impact not only on their own lives, their family and their friends, but to hundreds and hundreds of people on here.
Even if I don't know many of you in person, what you've shared touches me on such a deep, core level, and my heart aches for what you are going through. And that impact makes me stop in my tracks, each day. It makes me remember to stop yearning so much for everything I don't have, stop caring about the label on my clothes, or the type of car I own, and instead, to walk home in the rain and enjoy the water as it splashes on my face, to stop while I'm rushing to work to stand in the middle of the city and take all the energy in, to tell my friends that I care about them and appreciate them for who they are, and how they've helped me in life, and to go home and instead of rushing to clean the house, to stop, walk over to my husband and hug him as hard as I can.
Your struggles and your tragedy are yours to bear, and what I'm trying to say doesn't dimimish it in anyway. It's only to tell you that it's not all in vain because you have, in your own way, touched at least one person

Re: What's going on?
Well said, and make that two people.
Everyone here has opened my eyes and my heart to love, care, worry and pray for strangers I have never met, may never meet- but still care about.
The timing of the post is very funny. I am off to Israel today and I am going to the Kotel - the Wailing Wall. It is one of the holiest places in the Jewish faith. I always go there and pray for my loved one and those loved by my loved ones. I knew I would be praying for some of you there too- people I haven't met, but have touched me so much. Its funny, I don't even know some of your names and I pray for your screen name or your children's first name. But you are in my prayers.

Re: What's going on?
Beth, that was beautiful, and I agree wholeheartedly.
Being part of such a large network like this makes us more aware of the hardships and tragedies that others who we don't know experience. I think it gives a much more well-rounded perspective on life and its ups and downs.
We have to remember to cherish every moment that we have with our loved ones, appreciate the little things in life, and let trivial things go.

Re: What's going on?
Beth, That was beautiful and made me tear up. THANK YOU for writing that.
ETA: I agree with everything you wrote. I can only speak for myself, but because of this site I have meet wonderful friends IRL who have watched my DD while I went to cardiac rehab, cooked meals for my family while I was in the hospital, are always there for me in person or on the phone and through Fm 's and emails, and in general are GREAT friends (you all know who you are).
Then there are the people who have never meet me that from this site that I KNOW Pray for me & my family, send me encouraging FM's and posts, believe me...IT DOES NOT GO UNNOTICED and it is APPRECIATED. When I went into my surgery last year I felt EVERY one of your prayers in my heart. I knew I had hundreds of people praying for me and I truly believe that those prayers were instrumental in getting through my surgery and my recovery. THANK YOU ALL!!!!! I truly feel blessed to have this site and all of you in my corner in the tough times and the joyful times.

Beautifully written, and I agree wholeheartedly. I also find myself praying for screen names, people I have never met but who inspire me with their stories. Thanks Beth for putting the thoughts of many of us here into such beautiful words!

Re: What's going on?
To let you all know, knowing that there are strangers out there, that care as much as all of you do, makes a difference in our lives, being one of those people that you have all comforted.
Every time that you reach out and send prayers or think about those with heartache, it touches a piece of our heart to know that there is good around us.

Re: What's going on?
Awww Beth, that was so sweet of you to say, thank you. I'm one of those who doesn't share much personally, but I am touched by all of those who do.
I truly hope that everyone gets past their struggles and that it makes them stronger because of it. I follow the mantra, "Good or bad, this too shall soon pass".
